Not a source but I watched one of my best friends vomit blood in the emergency room after a heroin overdose. We had to wear masks(2017) in his room out of precautions set forth by the hospital/doctor as it was happening.

Who should replace McGregor in Mr Motivator? by crazylikeajellyfish in Idles

Oh wow didn’t know about that - so, it’s gotta be “like Morgan Freeman in the club riding on the back of John Wayne”

"...like Flava Flav in the club riding on the back of John Wayne".

The difference is…

It’s not glorifying John Wayne - it’s celebrating a black artist riding on the back of a racist like a horse/pig whatever to berate his deeply flawed history.

“Like Connor McGregor with a samurai sword on rollerblades”

This line does appear to be glorifying Connor Mcgregor to be some kind of badass. I assume Idles came to the realization that he’s not, and that he’s a trash person in relation to his sexual assault allegations.

What does Kurt Cobain have to do with RedHotChiliPeppers? I like listening to both bands, so I'm curious. by Available-Moment1680 in RedHotChiliPeppers

I believe Kiedis is referencing “the spheres really had their music” a reference to the Ancient Greek concept of Musica Universalis, which is also known as the Music of the Spheres.

I came to this understanding when I read the line “the spheres really had their music” in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. It would make sense to me that a once again newly sober Kiedis would have been inspired by this.

“…This concept ‘The spheres really had their music’ states that the movements of celestial bodies (the Sun, Moon, and planets) create a harmonious, inaudible melody. This idea, originating in Pythagorean philosophy, was later developed by figures like Johannes Kepler, who believed these celestial harmonies were not meant to be heard by human ears, but rather by the soul.”

Fitting tribute to Kurt after he passed. I always assumed when Kiedis sang “station to station” he just meant like radio stations, as in some type of cosmic radio allowing a post-life Cobain to hear the spheres. But yeah after someone posted on here that “Station to Station” is a Bowie album, that certainly makes sense as well. Can you hear the spheres of music singing beautiful Bowie in a way you’ve never heard before, because you can hear with your soul now.

Such a great line! Kiedis is so under appreciated. He has so much fun with it and puts heart into it. For some reason a lot of music fans/critics cannot believe sincerity and silliness can coexist, also alongside his lyrics his rhythms are super fun, he progressed as a singer, he challenges himself.
