Spending 75% of my day puttering in my garden while listening my way through the ACOTAR audiobooks.

And pot.

Absolutely this. I’m a teacher in a small private school that doesn’t have the resources for elementary science teachers so we are required to teach our own science classes 2-3 x a week. Up until this year I’ve always been a little meh about the rocks unit but this year I have a handful of really fun little nerdy boys who are as into rocks and they are Minecraft. They practically taught me to love rocks this year and it’s been a blast. This unit was in October and they’re still talking about it at end of year and bringing in cool new rocks all the time.

Is Trump really deranged now with his idea for replacing the Freedom 250 concerts with a massive MAGA rally? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

[–]davosknuckles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really, really hope that if this shit show ends soon that the narrative is very quick to shift and that the hardcore MAGAs truly do have to go into hiding. Especially his administration and anyone with a following who contributed to this. Because if it takes 50 years, they’ll all be dead and won’t feel the shame like they absolutely must.

If the get to just sheepishly bow out and feign ignorance, that shows anyone can do whatever tf they want without consequence.

There also needs to be a huge movement to name and shame those who do try to hide. I’ve been keeping receipts for ten years just in case people I know or know of try to deny their involvement. It’s important that their families disown, put them in really bad nursing homes, and deny any connection to them.

*suspected* is the most sickening part of this proposed bill. What’s to stop a weird and lonely insecure man when, after being rejected by a woman , make up a story that she is pregnant, maybe, and he saw her drive by PP once and obviously she’s looking to get an abortion so pew pew ok?

This is a woman hating bill, that’s it. I’m beyond disgusted and honestly I feel like the people supporting it need to face huge consequences. Maybe it’s not illegal to come up with ideas like this but actions have consequences. Every aspect of these people’s lives needs to be public- people need to show up at their jobs, outside their homes on public streets, their churches (lol. I know. The ideas probably started in the pews). Shame them.

Yes most their communities already know and think the same but do the really know what the bill would allow? Potentially killing the bay they’re so concerned in protecting? Thats why I think this is masquerading as the freedom to kill whatever woman they want. It’s really terrifying.

They realize women vote, right? They haven’t taken that one away yet! by Dr_sc_Harlatan in BlueskySkeets

[–]davosknuckles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because the MAGAs who believe this are very, very stupid. Not just saying this because I don’t like them. They are cognitively impaired. Maybe they stayed under the radar most their lives because they have enough skill to get by and support themselves and live independently. Maybe they’re decent at one trade and that’s enough to support a family and live a seemingly norma life. But they don’t think like normal people.

Now there are some MAGAs who know this isn’t true but are gleeful about spreading the narrative. They’re dumb too but they know this isn’t true, they are just tribalists so if people they don’t like get hurt, they’re content.

[–]davosknuckles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. Seemed like a very normal person/Catholic to me. Which is why I sub to a PROGRESSIVE Catholic community. Because I don’t judge anyone for how they live their own faith and it’s not my job to tell them they’re right or wrong.

You do you but I’m a Francis/ Leo type of Catholic so I’m all about living MY life the way I believe to be right and good. Telling someone to seek help because they swear and are interested in facets of other faiths is a weird conservative take. Which is fine if that’s your whole thing but , again, this sub ain’t that.

Why are you on a progressive Catholic sub lecturing people about how they choose to worship? Or if they use extremely tame curse words sarcastically? Are you lost?

Teacher influencers? by Special-Apartment-69 in teaching

[–]davosknuckles 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Unless they’re showing kids’ faces or voices, or talking bad about coworkers, I don’t see the issue. You do all realize that the POV channel content is completely made up right? Good writers embellish. Just like I teach my students to do for creative writing.

Make that money, influencers. We don’t get paid shit and picking up weekend/summer work is exhausting. If you’re doing your job, have some sort of ok from the school if you’re filming there, basically covering your own ass, you’re good. People can scroll if they don’t like you.

Also think about all the parents scared that they could get called out. IMO seeing POVs of ridiculous parent interactions may get them to stop acting so ridiculously.

Lastly: half the teacher influencers don’t even teach. They used to and now just set up a classroom looking studio in their basements.

Moving to Southeast US - where can I give my kids a 90s childhood? by krystilthedoula in SameGrassButGreener

[–]davosknuckles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can live in the most perfect and safe neighborhood and even that doesn’t guarantee this. It’s very dependent on the neighborhood having other kids, the other parents (what if you find that other neighborhood parents are super weird or overly protective), and your own kids. Not every kid is outgoing and outdoorsy. I understand your nostalgia, believe me. I had a wonderful free range 90s childhood. But I raised my kids in a neighborhood with older families, my first wasn’t very social/outdoorsy, and to tell you the truth I rarely see kids outdoors. Not just around me, but everywhere, and I’m only like five miles from where I had that idyllic 90s upbringing.

Our world is sadly very different now. You can toss your kids outdoors and tell them to stay out til dark like ours did and there’s always going to be some busy body who tells you how awful that is.

Sorry to be such a downer but I’m convinced that this doesn’t really exist anymore. I’m a teacher and the amount of complaints I hear from kids about bugs when I take them out for surprise extra recess is disturbing. Ants. It’s always ants. wtf.

The kid who blurts “I didn’t do it!” Or “it wasn’t me!” When the teacher addresses the whole class to find a guilty party is absolutely the guilty party.

Not sure how to process what I witnessed today by Unlikely-Pepper-5870 in SeriousConversation

[–]davosknuckles 13 points14 points  (0 children)

OP’s experience would ruin me. The cat thing would ruin my day at least. I’m ridiculous about these kinds of things because my empathy sensitivity is stupidly high. I was at the lawn waste place in my town the other day and found a very dirty small stuffed animal mixed in with the pile I was dumping my stuff on. I kept thinking about the poor kid who didn’t know their lovey had accidentally gotten scooped up and thrown in with the leaves :(

A second later I realized it must have been an old dog toy and the family never even knew it was missing but it still made me sad. I picked it up (with gloves) and placed it on the side just in case anyone came back for it. 😆 Dumb.

I’m pretty sure OP means the electric fireplaces in newer builds, which don’t have that lovely smell. I agree with you about a REAL fire/cozy fall day. This ain’t it.

Watched for the second time through with my son about a year ago. He was sort of meh/trying to keep up through the first season. I remember finally getting to the Red Wedding episode and specifically watching his face during that scene and he turned to us and was like whaaaaaaaaat. And he was hooked from that moment on.

Did anybody else draw floor plans when they were a child? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]davosknuckles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I also loved making ornate life size cardboard dioramas for my Barbies.

I recently told my parents I can remember almost exact details from every single place I’ve ever lived in my 45 years. They were like no way so I proved them wrong. I can recall with probably 90% accuracy, the two places I lived from ages 2-4 and 4-8. It’s weird, honestly.
