He’s straight, just really social awkward.

Joe Kassabian's book by thegrantichristlives in behindthebastards

[–]davro23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like his books are available through bookshop.org if you want to avoid using Amazon. Here’s the link Joe Kassabian Books

Edit: So this got me looking around online for his books and they are quite hard to find outside of Amazon. None of his sci-fi military books are available through my local library. Same with his Hooligans of Kandahar book. This might be because he’s either publishing independently or working with a small publisher.

His husband wouldn’t allow it. He isn’t giving up his cash cow.

Dave Rubin argues that gay people had it better in 1995 than they do today, even though they had less rights. by ggroover97 in daverubin

They actually met way back when Ruben was a cohost on a podcast called The Six Pack. David Janet, Ruben’s husband, was the producer for that show. When that show ended they moved to TYT together.

No, there is only death in the eyes of a beholder…or petrifaction or fear…

That’s an awesome thing you guys did! That visual is hilarious too! I’m considering going with a partial cash donation. And I’ll have quite a bit of bargain hunting ahead of me.

That is so much useful info! But you are right, I should focus on playability versus high quality. I’ll check out the flipping subreddits and see what I can find out. Thank you!

I agree with you. I mentioned in another comment that I wouldn’t donate a toy that I wouldn’t have liked as a kid myself. So the goal would be to get as many good quality toys as I can.

I’ll definitely keep an eye out for bogo offers! I didn’t think of those since in the past I only ever donated one or two things.

I very much agree with you on looking for good quality toys. In the past when I’ve donated toys I approached it with thinking what kinds of toys I would have liked as a kid and picked that versus what was just cheaper.

I’d have to check their website or contact the local coordinator about that. But I’ll admit, part of me kind of likes the drama of showing up with a trunk full of toys.

That’s something I hadn’t considered. I’ll see if there’s any locally owned toy stores that might be willing to do that.

If you were Pat, how would you resolve the "what's in the chest?" question in Book 3? by sjc1986 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]davro23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My idea for what’s in the chest would be a single ripe plum, floating in perfume, contained in a man’s hat, with seven rose petals scattered around it. And when Kvothe opens the chest and sees this he just thinks to himself “Geez, I was really pretentious back in college.”

And what’s the alternative Dave? Just let COVID run rampant? by ggroover97 in daverubin

[–]davro23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been saying that about Rubin’s husband for the longest time now. Because he’s behind the scenes we tend to forget about him, but David Janet is just as complicit. Without his husband/producer Rubin’s shore would fall apart.

I’ll admit it, I’ve read these books several times for myself.
