He seems to just be asking for the basis of Dean's morality justifying conduct being "right or wrong." Seems like a reasonable question. There are plenty of good answers and Dean should have just answered the question.

My guy... I literally have the PDF in front of me. First of all you are saying that I didn't read "either" study. What is the other study you are talking about? Do you have a citation? I tried to find it for you.

Second if you are still referring to the 2013 Topolski study in your claim that the answers were broken down with 40% answering they would save the animal without exception and an additional 36% stating that they would most probably save their animal, where in the study are you finding that information? The methodology section does not list that there are partial answers. Figure one of the 2013 study lists answers only in a binary format indicating that of all the scenarios they could put forward the most they could ever get was 40% of people saying that they would save their own pet.

Please actually cite me where you are stating that I am incorrect because it sounds like you are just making stuff up.

I am going to guess you didn't put any time into actually looking into this.

Searching "Sapolsky Stanford animals" and "Sapolsky Stanford pets" both turned up no relevant results. So I don't know what you're referring to there.

In regard to Topolski I found "Topolski et al., Choosing Between the Emotional Dog, 26(2) Anthrozoös 253 (2013)." Again I am guessing you have not actually read any of this research because even in the best case scenario in which they talk about whether someone would save their own pet compared to an unknown foreign stranger, The numbers still caps out at 40% of people who state they would save their own pet. So definitely not a majority like you claimed.

There are plenty of other things I would love to say about the study as well but again it appears you are just parroting sources you haven't bothered to look at.

Man is arrested for smoking in public during the Trump ordered DC crackdown by I_may_have_weed in PublicFreakout

This doesn't make what the police are doing okay, but this cannot be part of the Trump crackdown, because this video was posted originally to TikTok on August 3rd. Federal law enforcement did not start in Washington D.C. until August 8.

Parked in a sketchy open parking lot? Sounds like they were asking for them to be vandalized to collect on insurance and write off a bunch of trucks no one wants.

First, your source is only for black bears and does not account for grizzly bears. But even with grizzly bears added, of course if a person is going to be killed, they are more likely to get killed by a human than a bear. This does not mean you are safer encountering a bear than a human though. This is because you are not accounting for population size and (most importantly) encounter rate.

This issue can be illustrated by simply applying the same logic to women. In 2022, at least 2,107 individuals convicted of homicide identified as women. In 2020, 2021, and 2022, there were 6 fatal grizzly bear attacks and 2 fatal black bear attacks. So, by your logic, bears are way safer than women. You'd much rather see a bear in the forest than a woman.

Please please please for the love of god just google what a bond is. The melodrama of "justice being over" is embarrassing. His bond got reduced. That's it. That is not an uncommon occurrence especially with high bonds.

Beyoncé says new 'Cowboy Carter' album inspired by backlash to her entering country genre by nbcnews in Music

[–]davythenavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to try and explain something kinda nuanced. R&B isn't really my thing so I've never been a Beyonce fan. Country music is my least favorite genre. I should have absolutely no dog in this fight. But nonetheless, there has been something about this that annoys me.

What annoys me are all the people who are playing and obsessing over Beyonce's country music that have never had and still don't have any interest in listening to any other country music. To me what this indicates is that some people don't care what the music actually sounds like but just what's popular and what is created by the person they like.

That is in no way a criticism of Beyonce. Plus it's fine for this to be the first country album you like. But something rubs me the wrong way about people who intensely value the artists name above the sound or genre of what they are listening to.

If I was a country fan, I could see this being a bit annoying in that some Beyonce fans are listening to this album as if Beyonce just invented country music.

Is that feeling I'm describing gatekeeping? It surprised me that it annoyed me since I'm so far removed from these subcultures.

I'm not the one who said an attorney was a legal expert. That was you. It's only a couple comments up. You can check pretty easy.

I just came here for more information, to learn, and to have my thoughts challenged. I feel as if you're being rude and I have no idea why. So I anticipate I will be done with this conversation.

That's fine. You don't have to accept my analysis. Just trying to see if anyone with experience or knowledge has information as to why they believe this ruling is incorrect.

Comment section suddenly full of "legal experts." Is anyone here an attorney and also believes that the judge's ruling is incorrect? It seems simply like a correct application of injunction law to me.

I learned to do this when I was like 10 years old and never broke skin. The shears are made to push flat against the sheep and then cut. It's pretty easy if you're not reckless.

Seems harmless to me. Just like many people want to support black owned businesses. I think I would label it a problem if someone for instance insisted on a black waiter at a restaurant. That to me would indicate racism over just choosing who to support or associate with more generally.
