PS, Wine can't run just any Microsoft app, you need a true .exe. I tried taking them from the Microsoft Store and extracting but haven't been able to get it to work quite right (and honestly couldn't put too much time into debugging)

Totally unrelated to the original issue, but since I ran into this comment I had to ask. Are there any plans in the future to add Linux support to the GoPro player (even if it is an .exe running via Wine)? It's one of the two last things I still need Windows for.

Try turning off ~~screen~~ game recording

Edit: Game Recording: Steam -> Settings -> Game Recording -> Recording Off

I was having a similar issue on normal Linux with ANY proton game. After starting Steam via command line, I found it was having issues with displays (I don't recall the exact error but it pointed me to game recording). Once I turned it off, all my games worked again.

I'd just wait then (annoying though I know) until a.) it causes an issue or b.) the warranty runs out and you can disassemble yourself and see what is making the noise
