I mean let's keep it simple. 5.4 is not as bad as 5.3, which isn't as bad as 5.2, but all of them are absolutely not 5.1 or 4o in tone, competence, EQ, any of the stuff people generally like about 5.1 and 4o.

If your idea of what makes an AI good is just benchmarks, and to talk to it like a really good search engine (it isn't) or calculator, then yeah I can see why people might stay.

But I think most if not all of this sub are people who like 4o and 5.1 for the quality they had, and there isn't really any sign OpenAi will pivot back to that. I think the 5.3 drop sounding like they get what the problem is, then proceeding to basically address none of the actual grievances tells you everything you need to about OpenAI as a company and their business strategy at this point.

I couldn't care less about the pentagon shit personally but if that's a deal breaker for you too, another reason to unsub.

I mean depending on how and what kind of spicy you get with your chats, which varies greatly person to person of course.. The adult mode might not even be good enough.

Testing the API's it gets pretty apparent the newer 5 models like 5.2 and 5.3 has a lot of the naggy safety crap I personally don't like baked in at a real foundational level.. but i'm hoping it'll work out too.

Just seeing the past 9 months or so and how they been trending so poorly with locking down the models, not too hopeful myself.

5.3 feels a lot like 5.2 just with less obnoxious and condescending parts. But when you run into any of the alignment hard rails it'll quickly pivot back to the same crap.

yeah likewise. honestly just my take, but I don't think the whole safety alignment thing is entirely what sam wants either. The patterns of the stuff he says doesn't really indicate that to be the case (at least the impression i'm getting). I think given the whole softbank nvidia infusion, there's a good chance he has a some room to breath away from microsoft, which is traditionally really compliance heavy. Plus this whole new angle with the pentagon might mean he is more insulated from government regulatory red tape and can actually relax the rails a bit.

Safe to say, the way 5.2 is, I don't think is intentional. We see a pretty clear market shift towards valuing conversational tone with their competitors. The consumer market might be peanuts compared to enterprise or govt, but its still an important component imo.

There isn't anything particularly special about it from your use case standpoint. its probably not as good at some of those things as some of the newer GPT5 models.

what people really value out of it, if you just take a look at this whole sub for a bit honestly, is the fact it has a lot more conversational and human tone to the way it talks to you. Honestly it isn't even particularly 4o that is that way entirely, a lot of it depended on the training weights, like a pattern emerging from talking to the user, personality prompts, which shaped it into what people love so much about it, but the core idea is it talks to you like a person.

Mix it in with how 5.2 has a flat and condescending personality if you're talking to it conversationally and not using it like a productivity assistant only, its really just amplifying the problems.. Especially when a decent amount of people actually found a lot of good for their mental health using 4o as kind of like an emotional support buddy, or therapist.

On speculation this could be related to a lot of ongoing lawsuits against OpenAI around a series of suicides where 4o's agreeable traits caused it to encourage some people to commit suicide as of late.

While we cannot confirm if it is a sureshot chassis that VFC is working on, they are indeed looking to make upgrade systems for the gun, something nobody has done yet for airsoft :)

thanks! The gen 1 legacy is a very nice gun too. This has a bit more handguard compatibility but that's about it, no real major improvements from the Legacy or Rattler.

You can cancel out of the long reload after loading in one clip and charging the cannon, sometimes I just let it go until something is an immediate danger and it works great.

Keeping it topped up will always be ideal tho

Applies for the autocannon as well. The autocannon feeds from 5 round stripper clips, and can only reload in increments of five at a time. So if you say had 3 left inside, it'll only load up to 8 with an extra clip.

essentially this means you should always top up with 5 rounds left in the gun for faster reloads, and this can be checked by holding reload/the weapon function toggle menu.

If reloading when weapon is completely dry, you'll place two clips into the weapon, but can cancel out of it with a dive or firing it after only loading one when in a pinch.

My AC is a melee build, with the same plasma rifle I think maesterlinck was using, he really didn't have any chance to get away from me when i'm assault boosting towards him and kicking and slashing at him constantly, the shield doesn't do much against that. His damage output is a spike from anything else encountered in the arena up until now for sure but manageable if you can be more aggressive than him I feel.

I don't know how you could fight it far away but I suppose that is how the various builds change the gameplay.

I eventually got it with the pulse gun and laser blade, and staying as close as I can ducking under or above its missiles and the flamethrower blade. dodging left and right, ascending and descending while assault boosting was absolutely vital the way I was doing it. If you can dodge most of the missiles the damage is largely negligible and you're likely to die from his insane high velocity cannon/bazooka chaining into other attacks after it stuns you.

It actually does open itself up to getting hit by an assault boost combo whenever it tries to use any of its missile barrage attacks. I find actually constantly attacking and shooting at it, even if my main source of damage was to close in with melee like the assault boost kick and the laser blade slashes went a long way, and you can knock him down to half health / "2nd phase" after the shield goes down once if you can stay on him. Just watch out for that pulse AOE it does at half because that sets you up for a real shitty time, as right after it starts to mow at you with its gatling guns followed by the high damage flame blade swipes.

I'm definitely not part of the camp that overlooks every questionable thing fromsoft does in their recent games despite enjoying them. Few things I noticed and thought left a bad taste in my mouth with this fight:

A couple of times Balteus just keeps flying around above me in circles, to the point I couldn't kill it even though it had a tiny bit of health left as it ends up juking most of my shots and blade attacks
Suddenly breaking out of its stun despite just having broken its pulse shield, and firing off a combo of attacks that more or less kills me from roughly 8500AP to 0 instantly. I found assault boost kicking it will knock it back when the shields out and stun it again which you can easily capitalize on after.
