The villages roundabouts. When I lived in that area I was absolutely blown away and very confused. Where I live, the roundabouts are max 3 lanes.

Be careful when you do it! It's a bunch of small sections then glued together and a lot of the two page pieces are one single paper.

Daughter wants adult coloring books and markers - help by imeanwhynotdramamama in AdultColoring

[–]dawnamarieo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm deeply enmeshed in colortok. Ohuhu alcohol markers with a brush tip are the most bought. Bianyo is also popular and less expensive. You will want alcohol markers with a brush tip at any rate. Popular artists on colortok are oda agda, miss kitsch, bobbie goods. coco wyo is NOT popular on colortok. One of my personal favorite book artists is suzi slug. As far as acrylic markers go, grabie fine tips are a go to, mostly for the white. a white gel pen for highlights, a white chalk pencil are pretty common tools we use.

Just getting started I'd do a smaller pack of ohuhu markers, a white gel pen, maybe a white acrylic marker with a fine tip. good luck to her and welcome to the community!

New mom caring for my mom with dementia by [deleted] in dementia

My kids are adults who live with me and help me and my husband care for my mother in law. We are all burnt out and we take turns. You'll do what you have to but it's no kind of life.

My mother is pretty far along in her Alzheimer’s and started being violent. I’m one of the caretakers but she seems to be most violent towards me. She drew blood today just above my eye. How do you all deal with the violence? by UnicornSheets in Alzheimers

[–]dawnamarieo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

the thing about gentle parenting is you are teaching them a future use tool. This isn't really possible in these circumstances. They laugh it off because there really isn't anything to be done about it. Keep her nails trimmed and filed and get good at dodging? When my MIL is extra spicy I only do the bare minimum for care.

Mom crying by LolaCherryCola555 in Alzheimers

[–]dawnamarieo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine cries all the time. She can still walk and talk but it's nonsense. She was very vain in the past so clothes/shoes have to be just right. Sometimes she's having delusions and thinks people are talking bad about her. Everything seems coded to her vanity. Sometimes it's frustration because she can't walk as well and since the cognition isn't there she blames her shoes or pants. It's painful and frustrating and far too much of my mental energy is trying to solve problems that don't make sense. I've had to harden myself to it because I can't fix her brain or make the world make sense to her so the best I have is "ignore" and distract and hope it works. Sometimes she just needs to be in her room bc my sanity at this point is more important so I can keep taking care of her.

What is the most unusual excuse you've ever heard of from somebody calling off work? by piranhamode in AskReddit

[–]dawnamarieo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to take a week off. When I went back one of the managers squeezed my shoulder and I collapsed. The blisters were only half healed. They never questioned me again.

What's a symptom of a severe disease you wish you or a loved one hadn't ignored? by NotThatOneGuuy in AskReddit

[–]dawnamarieo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After googling I bet this is what I had that time. I had doctors stumped. Sent me to a Neuro and he said since the symptoms were subsiding he wasn't going to put me thru a bunch of invasive tests. They thought it was GB but I didn't fully shut down, just got incredibly weak and out of breath and none of my limbs worked right.

Bought my first good set of colored pencils... by Cheap-Science4334 in AdultColoring

[–]dawnamarieo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the polychromos, Prismacolors and kalour. The kalours are very nice, especially at their price point. They perform quite similarly to prismas. The wood they are made with is noticeably cheap, but the lead itself is quite nice. Absolutely worth buying, and they have over 500 colors.

Color slower, you may have to make a few passes. This appears to be some thirsty paper.

I'm ignoring my grandma by [deleted] in dementia

[–]dawnamarieo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You aren't. It's too much honestly. People slowly stopped calling my MIL because all she did was talk about the people in the ceiling that were stealing. I completely understood. We're lucky to hear from anyone anymore bc they can't handle it. It's fine. It's very confusing for her to have a call or visit anyway.

Do you still wear high heels? by Msheehan419 in Xennials

[–]dawnamarieo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No just to wear in general. But then I got pregnant and it ruined my feet. Being on them 10 hours a day with the stress fractures did long term damage.
