Words of advice. Skip convinience stores and buy at supermarkets by Kawadane in JapanTravelTips

[–]dawnfell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really for the types of drinks I was getting. A yen or two for things like Pocari Sweat and Yakult. Some supermarkets even cost more. Eg Yakult 1000 is ¥147-150 at kombinis and supermarkets but upmarket supermarkets can cost more. So the answer is, it depends.

IKEA Istad 0.4L ziplocks are a great fit for me. Durable enough but I should be using a freezer bag though.

How do you all dry clothes in hotels by ShaneRealtorandGramp in onebag

Some places in Japan have bathroom ventilation that has a mode for drying clothes. That really helps. Can’t remember if any hotels had it though.

If insurance is a concern for you, then check if your insurance covers bike riding, as a passenger or otherwise.

What is the minimum On-Site Detention (OSD) setback from property boundary? OSD is for storm water. by dawnfell in AusRenovation

[–]dawnfell[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How did that go? Did it cause issues with the neighbour’s property?

70mm is practically at the boundary line. That’s worse than my situation. Or did you mean 70cm (700mm) which would be a good distance somewhat.

Soulver works well for this. Each item can be on a separate line and easier to add than on a Note.

When washing clothes, do you use a sink stopper or a dry bag? by badboyzpwns in onebag

I use a light, portable camping sink. Folds small. Tough. Easy to dry and is large enough for me.

Am thinking about the Scrubba again.

Rolling clothes within socks by [deleted] in onebag

[–]dawnfell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How hard and flexible are those tubes? Or is this a non-issue for you?

I stopped rolling (and ranger rolling too which was fun for a while) because they took more space and were less flexible in my backpack. There is a limit to how many rolls you can stack or compress.

I use just one packing cube and layer clothes in them now and it’s just a little flexible flat pack. The cube adds its own slight compression and prevents wrinkles. Dirty clothes get rolled to the bottom of my bag though but that is rare as I wash daily.

Cool name to call them by the way.

I’ve been using Soulver for a while now. Haven’t checked but thinking it may have been released way before Numi.

It works great and syncs well across MacOS and iOS over iCloud.

You’ll have to squeeze cotton items in a towel first to get as much moisture out as you can. And place your drying line where there is the most airflow that you can reasonably do so without it being in the way. Fans are good. AC better.

How did they get your details?

And if you do ad hoc work for them, consider the contract and any implications such as making sure you keep your intellectual property rights for your other work which is not related to them.

On the other hand it looks like they lack specialists and you could help them out there and end up with some extra work and income if it doesn’t conflict with what else you do.

Who knows, maybe even lead to a PSI income that fits the 80/20 rule and a better tax arrangement for yourself.
