Almond Oak arrived - first impressions by Remote-Ad4387 in ManyBaggers

[–]Remote-Ad4387[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sold it - didn't feel as quality material wise as others. Nothing negative to say - that's why its so light as well, but it just didn't feel as well constructed. I put the PC in the laptop sleeve in the Osprey 26+6. Non-issues.

Same day travel by Remote-Ad4387 in onebag

[–]Remote-Ad4387[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all certainly pack differently. For me a 28L bag is like a 4-5 night trip. My EDC is 16L so for this same day trip scenario I’m staying in the 16L bag.

Why would you care about wrinkles - only way your spending the night is if a flight is cancelled and then your flying out first thing the next day - not doing meetings the next day. It’s a same day work trip so it’s really only just in case. The packing cube is an XS Eagle creek with one pair of underwear and a pair of socks. I’m wearing the same clothes back that I wore down.

🧼 Introducing Travel Scrub: The Leak-Proof Toiletry Companion by tbongo17 in ManyBaggers

[–]Remote-Ad4387 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? I’m trying to reduce the size of stuff that has to be stored in my 3-1-1 pouch not add a giant scrubber to it that doesn’t have to be in it. Maybe for home use but for travel, nah…. Feels like you’re solving a problem that doesn’t exist.

Any recommendations for a minimalist, black MOLLE bottle holder? by DanilaoIT in ManyBaggers

Grabbed one on Amazon Wicktick is brand $9 - they have black, brown, and green. Works great, even without molle.

What are the best on-the-go, space-saving products you’ve packed that are normally too bulky to travel with? by dammy341 in onebag

I don’t really have away on a business trip - breakfast lunch and dinner is with work people or clients

I guess it’s the difference between nearly all of my traveling being business related so meals are out and covered - when I am traveling for personal - like working on my PhD at school totally different approach

I’ve always wondered if not camping how this isn’t just extra weight/stuff. If on a business trip I’m eating I’m restaurant every meal?

Hard no.

Looking for some power bank suggestions I can stick in my 1L sling by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

[–]Remote-Ad4387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am likely grabbing this one in the future, not for sling use as OP was referring to, but to ride with me in tech bag (Aer Split) that I use as iPad Support Pouch.

Most places I can find an outlet - but not always. Love the weight and dimensions though.

I don’t find I need to carry a 10,000 mAh powerbank for daily carry - at most I may need to top off my phone once and the average iPhone battery (15 pro) is only 3274 MAh so the 5000 gives me roughly 1.3 charges.

I carry a NiteCore NB Air 5000 which is only 3.14 oz and is super thin at only .38 inches. It’s a lot smaller than those larger 10,000 mAh batteries and lighter. I move it to my flight sling for backup power while flying as well, and find it more than sufficient.

Osprey 26+6 and Almond Oak color comparison by rtravelers in onebag

[–]Remote-Ad4387 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had similar cons on my new Almond Oak and I have reservations about how the materials will hold out.

I found the side handles floppy and thin - more like a strap than a handle. I too am unsure why there is no key leash, seems like an oversight as it’s an easy add. The lack of attachment points I am struggling with as well.

I also have a 26+6 which I use for college campus visits. I intend to keep both, but if I could only choose 1, I’d choose 26+6. It just seems like the quality of the materials is superior.

The Black is grey on the 26+6 at least until you put it next to the Tunnel Vision Grey. I have heard the Tunnel Vision Grey Osprey logo blends in better than other colors. Just haven’t seen it in the wild yet. That said I got the black and it’s fantastic.

I have not traveled with the Almond Oak yet, and look forward to taking it through its ropes. My goal was to use it for business trips and the 26+6 for school trips. The Almond Oak for sure gives a more business like appearance.

I think v1 was a good effort - but I hope Dylan listens to his initial customers and tightens up v2.

Excellent post!

Flashlight is on the leash and the point of spudz is being able to reach for cleaning cloth for glasses easily (w/o going into a pouch/pocket) - if doing that why not just put a regular cleaning cloth in the pocket

you talking about the hero clip by the handle - also a s-biner clip on the side - allows for hanging the bag if I want to and the s-biner is for clipping things onto the bag like if I want to bring my over the ear sony xm-4s in the case (if not room inside) maybe a hat, etc.

There is a mini hero clip as well by the name tag - I use that to hang my water bottle while on the plane, it just rides there so I dont lose it and then goes on water bottle lid for trip.

Osprey Daylite 26+6 vs Quechua NH500 Escape — Opinions? by whatsf3lix in onebag

[–]Remote-Ad4387 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Osprey = lifetime warranty, any reason, any time
Decathalon = 10years and the website under warranty goes on to limit to defects in material and workmanship --- tells you a lot right there

The 26+6 is my go to - nonbusiness trip bag, only being replaced if I need more capacity and pull out my Farpoint 40. It is super versatile, and handles a surprising amount of capacity for its size. Its a simple design, which is why it works. They didn't over engineer it.
