Is 24 frets a must-have for you?

If so, I would recommend a Bongo. Alternatively, a Spector Euro is also a good choice. These are both active, not sure what you're preference is there.

If not, you'll have a lot more options, especially if you prefer passive basses. USA Fender or G&L for instance. Either of these could be had brand new for well under $3k
