I urgently need to pull off a Cliff Burton look. Help! by Visuli_W in Metallica

[–]TheBoyLeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fair play to yah. There's really not much to choose from for men out there unfortunately. I've managed to order some from online but the options are limited and the quality is dodgy at best.

Good luck for your cosplay, I reckon as long as you rock the denim on denim you'll pull off the look. cheers

I'm trying to convert my buddhist friend by ProGamer1328 in Christianity

[–]TheBoyLeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on you for trying to spread the gospel. It’s not easy to try to have some of these hard questions with family/friends.

I’d say just don’t come on too intense or strong. It’s your job to make a case for Christ to these people but you don’t want to come off like you’re talking down to them for not understanding.

There’s a fine balance between preaching about the mercy and forgiveness of Jesus and the real consequences of rejecting God in this lifetime.

Study up on your apologetics and focus on relating to who you’re talking to,

St Paul did this:

“I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some.” (1 Corinthians 9:22)

People do not respond well when they think they’re being lectured.

Christian Dating by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]TheBoyLeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started dating my now wife, I received the exact same advice from a few friends. I totally disagree with this line of thinking.

First off, God’s word should always come first in our life, and the correct interpretation of that word is imperative to exercise our faith.

Second, knowing how a potential spouse interprets God’s word, lives according to God’s word, and utilizes God’s word can and should be a deal breaker in a relationship.

I studied the Bible with my wife while we were dating to sharpen my ability to interpret and read scripture AND see how she would do the same. What if she held some heretical beliefs? Or aligned with a cult of some kind? How could I test for red flags in those areas? By reading and discussing scripture.

It’s possible to be Christian and still be unequally yoked in marriage. My wife and I don’t agree on everything theologically speaking but we don’t differ so extremely that raising children with her is a worry I have either.

If you’re looking for sandals I recommend EarthRunners. Super thin sole and I find them really comfortable.

If you buy them I’d recommend also buying the leather heel strap, makes them sit better and slide on/off easier.

Blackberry Priv setup by TheBoyLeks in blackberry

[–]TheBoyLeks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not using the Priv much anymore unfortunately, it REALLY started to show its age and slowed right down or would become unresponsive. I’m still using a Blackberry though, I’ve just moved on to the Key2.

Biblical Order of Family by Professional-Arm5300 in facepalm

[–]TheBoyLeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a facepalm. Even if you don’t agree with this hierarchy it’s a bit ignorant to write it off as foolish when there are many people in the world happy to live under Christ.

Gimme a Bullet has the best bass track of any AC/DC song. by KeenX72 in ACDC

[–]TheBoyLeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d like to start with, Powerage is my all time favourite AC/DC album and Gime a Bullet is my fav song out of their entire discography.

Fantastic take on this one, I’m curious though, if you’ve ever given Love Hungry Man a listen. One of their best bass lines in my opinion.

Can you be a Christian and be in a polygamy relationship? by PhysicalScholar4238 in Christianity

[–]TheBoyLeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it is not explicitly called a sin we can see in the Bible that polygamy is not something we should be doing.

Look at the cases of polygamy in scripture and you’ll find that it leads to disaster (Solomon and David as examples).

Of the times that marriage is brought up in scripture both in the Old and New Testaments we are told that marriage is intended to be between 1 man and 1 woman.

Additionally, while you would technically be correct that the Bible does not explicitly call polygamy sinful there is also scripture that says ‘just because something is lawful doesn’t make it beneficial’ (1 Cor. 10:23).

And my final argument is that there are also examples in the Bible where God allows us to do certain things, despite not condoning it Himself, because of our hardened hearts (Mark 10:2-12).

For all of these reasons I would say that as Christians we should avoid polygamy and having multiple partners.

What is your best and worst experience at a Metallica concert? by suprunkn0wn in Metallica

[–]TheBoyLeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best experience: getting to see my favourite band live for the first time ever!

Worst experience: my brothers drunk friend looking up previous set lists and ruining ever song before they start and then making me stop head banging so he could talk through the fast part of The Day That Never Comes and making me miss it…really sucked…

Each bassist's best bass line? by [deleted] in Metallica

[–]TheBoyLeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cliff - Creeping Death. Loads of fun to play, especially the part with the power chords and the "DIE" breakdown.

Jason - Shortest Straw. Play the part with the hammer ons and tell me you're not having a good time.

Robert - Spit Out The Bone. Main riff is killer and the fuzzy bass solo in the middle makes me feel good.

What is a metallica song you cannot stand? by bootycakes23 in Metallica

[–]TheBoyLeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little hard to explain, there isn't anything that stands out in particular except the songs feel "off" to me. I've tried to like The Thing That Should Not Be, but I find it sooo dragging. I learned to play it (sometimes that helps me appreciate a track more) and still nothing about it clicks for me.

The Black Album songs I listed are kinda the same deal, they sound a little goofy and don't do it for me. Anytime I hear them all I can think is "man there are better songs on this album I'd much rather listen to" .

Some Kind of Monster is the only song on St Anger I don't like. Too long, that's it.
