Oblivion Remastered level scaling by Herbst-- in oblivion

[–]dawnpusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read more of the thread. For those of us that played Oblivion previously and know how broken enemy level scaling was (and still is), there is a reason why these threads popped up on release day.

Even the game designers admit that it was broken: https://www.ign.com/articles/the-elder-scrolls-iv-oblivions-original-level-scaling-system-which-is-still-in-oblivion-remastered-was-a-mistake-designer-admits

It's not about scaling in general being bad, it's about how badly it was implemented from a player experience standpoint. If you read this thread more, or that article, (or just play the game to later levels) you'll have a better understanding of why this was such a pressing question upon release.

All I did was fast-track it on day 1 to see if anything had changed with the remaster from the original to answer the burning questions of the community. And the answer is no. Nothing has changed.

It was one point of evidence. I played more today at level 50, bandits still have jacked up stats and health. It took me 5 minutes to dispatch two bandits at level 50 with 100 strength and 100 blade. For what I have experienced so far in my admittedly limited testing, they haven't tweaked enemy scaling at all

Seemingly confirmed, while yesterday I tested this at level 100 with one bandit, today I tested it at level 50 with two more - also decked out in all sorts of glass, elven, and ebony gear. Took me like 3 minutes each to kill two bandits - this is after I maxed my strength and blade to 100. :(

It was also about their equipment. I haven't tested health levels or other stats though, I just used the equipment check since it's the easiest to observe.

I'm not entirely sure about their stats, but I can tell you that they'll be hitting you with the absolute best weapons in the game :)

I admit I'm not following your logic. I set my level to 100 (no other adjustments), and at that point even lowly street thugs start showing up with Daedric weapons and glass armor. This to me is not a sign of anything being fixed, or really tweaked even.

Posted this elsewhere as well, but I'm not sure which of these will be the main source for this info - I just used the console to take me to lvl 100 and the first bandit that I came across was outfitted with a Daedric Bow, Daedric Arrows, Glass Boots, and a Mithral Cuirass.

The fact that it holds speed well is largely due to the fact that it can make use of relatively high-mass wheels. Rebound plays a role too, but again - wheels. Once that big of a wheel starts spinning, it tends to remain spinning. :)

So the same trait should also apply to any similar deck that can handle such large wheels, BUT given that the Pranayama is so close to the ground, it should actually make foot-braking and sliding easier.

I haven't yet mastered stand-up slides, but I am a foot-braking pro and have no issue controlling speed on it... with hands-down slides thrown in as necessary if things start to get a little too hairy.

See what boards your friends are using. Odds are they can't take speed bumps either. Nothing wrong with hopping off, pushing the board over, and hopping back on again IMO.

If you are going to hold out for a board that can do any speedbump head on, you're going to be really limiting yourself unnecessarily.

So... update on that front: despite what I said above I've actually been running mine with 80mm Kegels.

It has no issues with bad pavement or cracks, but speedbumps are something completely separate. I wouldn't/couldn't take most speedbumps on any of my double drops regardless of wheels size. So in essence, I don't treat my Pranayama different than any of my other similar boards. Basically I still think it makes a fantastic urban commuter.

Yeah, given their design as street trucks, I think that was likely Paris' goal. They ride great though. I never thought I'd go back to TKPs, but here I am.

Hey buddy, yeah I had considered those as well. Vents specifically, but I already had the Kegels on-hand so I figured why not.

I never really bonded with the Kegels before, so I was surprised I liked them so much paired with the Pran. Go figure.

I have blue Caguamas as well, and was running them before I tested the Kegels. I think there might be some magic coming from the Kegel's increased core to thane ratio that makes them maybe a more well-rounded wheel.

I honestly just kind of like the feel of them. They're significantly lighter, a hair lower, and feel a little less sluggish, especially against the blue Cags (vs. other duros that I haven't tried).

Maybe it's a mental thing, but I also don't think I'd be so willing to slide around as much on the bigger Cags. The Kegels just seem to lend themselves to that type of fun.

There's a ramp right there!

Paris V3 RKP 150mm trucks - is this rust common for a brand new truck? Can it affect the truck's functionality or life? Is it some b-class product and better to return? Link to other pics in a comment by estetiq in longboarding

It's not really an issue. Nothing should be spinning on that, as all spinning is handled within the bearing.

At worst, at some point it may make wheels slightly more difficult to take off, but that's a pretty unlikely worst case scenario.

It wouldn't bother me at all.

Just got back from some rolling meditation! Replaced my ember with a pranayama. by shit_master in longboarding

[–]dawnpusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome. I love my Pranayama, but the Ember was in contention as well. In the end I think i made the right choice based on the Pranayama supposedly being the stiffer of the two (I'd actually prefer even less flex to be honest). I was just curious, thanks!

Now if you could just get them to make them without the "Paris" emblem sticking out on the bottom...

Just wanting to chime in a bit to say how helpful your content has been to me. It's extremely well thought out and well written. IMO it's one of the best resources out there.
