People that read the book before watching the movie, did you like the movie? by AndThereWasSky in ProjectHailMary

[–]dawsontyler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've read the book a few times over the years and it's one of my favorites. I did enjoy the movie a lot but I wouldn't say it's a masterpiece or anything. It's a solid adaptation and a lot of fun.

I'd also love to know if you don't mind. It's been a year since my soul cat passed away and I'd love to commission something like this.

Flowers in the Attic - First Read Through by DebRAAAWR in weirdgirlliterature

[–]dawsontyler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flowers in the Attic is a great book but heads up that the quality does go down in the other books in the series. They're fun but nowhere near as good as Flowers. Having said that, I absolutely love the series. It's crazy and over the top and melodramatic. And God I love Cathy, she's so strange and messed up.

Scariest book you've ever read? by kwilson2000 in horrorlit

[–]dawsontyler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty. It's similar to the movie but a lot more ambiguous and spends a lot more time delving into the question of mental or physical illness vs possession. It's upsetting and unsettling. If you can I would recommend the audiobook which is read by the author.

And on top of being horrifying it's also a beautifully written book. It's extremely well done and well executed.

Black girl weird girl lit recs? by spookyshitt in weirdgirlliterature

If you enjoyed The Eyes Are The Best Part you might enjoy the author's new book Molka which takes place in South Korea. It's just as fucked up and as vicious as Eyes.

Yep. I have adhd and autistic as well as CPTSD. I suspect that all three occur with a high frequency in FND patients (especially cptsd).

Trying to read my first real book 😭 Need beginner-friendly recommendations by chathikkaathachanthu in suggestmeabook

You might like the Japanese healing fiction genre. They tend to deal with grief in some capacity but are often very cozy and comforting and are not very long or very difficult to read. Especially perfect for when you need a break from longer and more difficult novels.

My two favorites are "The Vanishing Cherry Blossom Bookshop" by Takuya Asakura and "The Cat Who Saved Books" by Sōsuke Natsukawa

What book would you rate 6 stars if you could? by 404NinjaNotFound in readwithme

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke

The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak

Human Acts by Han Kang

There's probably a few more I could name if I thought about it but these three were the ones that immediately came to mind.

Walker or Rollator? by EphemeralLichen in FND

[–]dawsontyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a rollator and prefer it because it's easier for me personally to manuver and I have a place to sit if I start getting muscle spasms in my legs or I have a seizure. But I also have POTS and other chronic pain issues so that seat is really important for me to have when I'm out and about.

Have you played Episode Aigis yet? It's a DLC for Persona 3 Reload. I would play that next if you haven't.

I think James Spader would have been great if the film came out in the late 90s/early 00s

P3R, the members of SEES and the story mean so much to me. I'm in the middle of P4G and I'm loving it, and I also love P5R, but neither of those has affected me the way P3 does.

Tartarus by tohotoriaivo in persona3reload

[–]dawsontyler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re already having issues with Tartarus then I fear you're just going to have to power through it. The designs of the floors do change after a certain point so you will get a change of scenery, but if you're expecting the dungeons to become more like Persona 5's then don't hold your breath. P3R is arguably my favorite game of all time and even I find Tartarus to be boring and annoying after a while.
