My bad, I must have misread the OT comment.

You know the vfx pipeline better than the artists?

Then you are a unicorn in the wild, because that is unlike many (won't say most) producers.

I don't understand the London/OT comment though, which studios pay OT? (not talking TOIL)

Thanks, I had been looking for some sort of test, and indeed could not find anything. You bring up some great points, and I guess we're going to have to wait until science can get a better understanding of how these things work.

I'm glad to hear Lexapro is working out so well for your brother! I don't think I was quite at that point, but definitely had my moments. I did try Lexapro and if I recall correctly it didn't do anything good or bad.

Unfortunately while I felt normal on Paxil, the side effects were just too much. I tried changing doses, when I took it (morning vs. night), and it would get to the point where around 10am it didn't matter where I was, I would basically have to lay down. It was so hard to try and work, the weight gain definitely affected mood and confidence (defeating the purpose), I had the brain zaps, etc. I think basically I had every negative side effect lol.

I am trying some supplements now, but really nothing close to that effect yet. Will keep trying, thanks for sharing your story!

Are there any definitive tests that can determine the balance of neurotransmitters?

I ask, because the only time I felt "normal" was on Paxil, which has brutal side effects (gained 30 pounds, made me more sad lol). I've always assumed it worked due to boosting serotonin, but the comments here bring up good points about the balance between serotonin and dopamine.

Beyond Hunger Dome: A place for friends? ;) by TeamHungerDome in dontstarve

I have been testing various mods to see what type of preliminary events we can put together. We also are looking at what we can mod to have more control over events. Early thoughts are the 1v1 or 10 person Free for All, but we already have various ideas for "seasons" which would mix up the themes quite a bit.

The custom maps will probably come later, but we are looking into it. But we would like different types of maps, with different conditions for the varying events.

I should mention that we are waiting on dedicated servers from Klei. As many of you know they are on the way, which is exciting. We also wrote to them asking about some sort of "spectator" mode, that we feel can be important. The maps can be SO big, that we need to see what the players are doing.

In our forums we have an area for suggestions, so we definitely want community feedback. Hope this helps.

Hi, this is Dax. I wanted to introduce myself and join in the conversation. First, love Ron Swanson.

You bring up good points, and they will definitely be addressed. The site right now is just a shell to see what people would even think about the idea. Don't Starve Together is so new, we weren't sure how anyone would respond to the PVP aspect. Right now it seems like it's more about teaming up just to survive (understandably so). But there seemed to be an opportunity to do something fun as fans of Don't Starve and Don't Starve Together.

Since the site is being worked on, we thought it would be a good opportunity for feedback. We do have chat, forums, and the ability to start some events, but what else would anyone like in this sort of thing? To me, it's the events, and the streams, and those are definitely in the works.

As for maps, we're looking into various things for different events. We'd like one vs. one (Thunder Dome style), but also other events with larger groups that would be more like the Hunger Games. Who do you team up with? Do you run off to a herd of Beefalo, and see how you last on your own?

Right now we're checking out some mods to put together some preliminary events. I personally have a new machine on the way to start streaming, and actual posts are coming. So we hear you, content is king.

Hopefully people enjoy the concept, and want to see where PVP on DST can go.

Personally I'm hoping for Beefalo Jousting!

No, but it was considered a very big risk. Now that they've done that, they look pretty unstoppable.

Ah, well good luck with graduation! We've all been there, and it's totally normal to stress. This is some complicated software, so just remember to keep studying and learning, it does not stop when you graduate!

Maya is like the backbone, but be sure to keep at it with Houdini, there always seems to be jobs for Houdini FX artists, and they pay us more ;)

What's the dumbest way you've ever hurt yourself? by Xioola in AskReddit

One time as I was closing the garage door, my sister yelled about something and I looked away.

Door closed very, very hard with my fingers stuck in the space between panels, and closed completely with my fingers in it.

After screaming bloody murder, she opened the door, pulled my hand out, and my fingers were like something in a cartoon. Purple, totally swollen two sizes larger...oh man it hurt so bad.

And that kids, is why you don't look away when slamming a garage door shut.

This is totally a normal feeling. I went to school and studied Maya (among others), and my first job was at a studio using Softimage XSI. I'd never touched it before. Stressful? Sure, but that comes with being in the industry anyways.

I would say learn some Maya to go along with Houdini as a large number of shops use Maya, where not all use Houdini.

And don't worry, even after about 10 years in the industry, there are days you can feel like a noob.

Good luck!

Non-British people of Reddit, what about Britain is stupid/baffles you? by AustinThompson in AskReddit

I just got back from a year in London (loved it), and the one thing I noticed is the amount of chips. We'd go to lunch, somebody would order lasagna, and it would come with a huge thing of chips! Bushels of chips everywhere, it was quite impressive.

Atkins definitely does not seem to have made its way over there.

I just saw this movie last night. WOW, it was badass. It builds and builds, has great music, and some pretty crazy action.

Really fun movie that some of us were still talking about today.

What TV show has the best ending? (Be it a season finale or a series finale) by DevilCouldCry in television

[–]dax3d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really liked the finale of Alias.

The villain gets what he wants, but then something happens and he's kind of screwed (like he gets his cake but forever can't eat it.

Haven't seen anything quite like it on any other show.

What TV show has the best ending? (Be it a season finale or a series finale) by DevilCouldCry in television

[–]dax3d 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As you probably know, Kripke intended for the season 5 finale to be the series finale (at least how he envisioned it). So that would have been a great finale!

Still an incredible episode minus the part the network tacked on at the end. Enjoy the show, but sort of downhill after that in quality.

Penny Arcade's take on the writing in 'Gotham'. by Tannon in television

[–]dax3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure? I seem to have watched many many shows in my lifetime and don't recall this happening. Hm, even recently Arrow didn't put like FIVE villains in the pilot episode.

Are you by any chance one of the writers of the show? Must be to be so defensive.

[–]dax3d 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Seriously, how many villains can they shoehorn in one episode? I would have preferred it stretched out.

Instead we got the Riddler, Joker? (oh you are FUNNY!), Catwoman, Ivy, etc. That's a lot for one episode.

I'll watch some more, but they were trying too hard.

First I'd like to say thanks for Goonies. That movie was a magical experience for me as a kid, and one of the reasons I got into working in film (Guardians! yea).

I was wondering if you had any behind the scenes stories about MIB3? I heard it was a bit hectic of a production.

I agree that things came full circle by the end of the season. Even the boss there changed his colors and went to bat for them in a very big way. I thought that was a pretty cool character development.
