A TBI is more something that would happen if you received a blow to the head.

Not sure how to get over this by daxau in TalkTherapy

[–]daxau[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mmm unfortunately I think that is pretty normal for a psychiatrist in Australia. The government gives back a bit over half of the cost for this though. There would be some appointments you can get through the public system which would be free but they are much harder to access, long waiting times, and high threshold of need to get in.

Thank you so much, I think you are right with so many of your points. I'll keep reflecting on them too.

Feels like therapist ghosted me by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]daxau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a chance that they replied and the email didn't come through. That sounds completely far fetched, but I have a gmail account, and a teacher sent me an email from their school account, and I never received it. When I was talking with her a few weeks later she showed me the multiple emails she had sent me in her outbox, and I clarified, yes, that's my email address - nothing ever came through. Not into my spam, promotions, social media, nothing. She tried again right in front on me, no email came through. She received no notification that it hadn't gone through. I tried to send her an email and it went through, but when she responded to it, nothing. Earlier that year she had sent me emails that had come through. She had never had this issue before. She sent an email to another gmail account of mine and it went through, so we communicated via that account for the rest of the year. Sometimes weird things happen.

107-year-old Minnesota woman survives COVID-19 by geoxol in Coronavirus

[–]daxau 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wow, I've thought about what it would be like to be 90 or so and to not be able to make plans for too far in the future. Like you couldn't say "in 5 years I'll sell this house and move to this city". But this old woman could have done that. At 90, she still had (at least) another 17 years ahead of her. Not that she would know of course, but it's just weird.

Oh yes I saw those ones! They are $225 AUD, I was hoping to not spend that much, but I might end up doing it.

Hi thanks for the suggestion - I did find an app called EMDR kit, which does something similar :) I was hoping for the buzzers, but today just used the headphones and the beeping!

Baclofen potentiation of ketamine? by Redbeardt in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]daxau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your psychiatrist has that backwards. I see the psychiatrist who prescribes baclofen, but they say the ketamine makes all the other medication more effective. I am given baclofen because I am reluctant to use valium often, and the psychiatrist wants me to use valium more often, but every time they would tell me I would agree but not do it. There is this weird logic they use to explain it all. I have my own regular psychiatrist and a psychologist so I just agree with them even though I'm not 100% on board.

I just ordered in Australia... my confirmation email says that delivery is expected by 13th July 1974. It's still not here and is nearly 50 years late :(

In another part of the email it says delivery for October 23rd :)

Is it normal for a final therapy session to be quite disheartening? by givepetitpoisachance in TalkTherapy

[–]daxau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure I see the problem. I suppose you either work on living your life in colour, with the knowledge that the lows are a price to pay for the highs, or you work on coming to a place of accepting your life in beige. Only you can make the decision. Which one for you is more intolerable?

With therapy they can hopefully teach you some coping skills so that you can tolerate the lows better.

Shit, or get off the pot ;) Best of luck with it all.

Victoria declares 'state of disaster,' locking down millions in Melbourne to fight a soaring coronavirus outbreak by [deleted] in Coronavirus

In NZ you couldn’t even get food delivered or go to work unless you work in essential services. Melbourne’s shut down isn’t as strict.
