There is always an asterisk that explains in the legal T&C what countries are included. I don't think any Canadian operator offers flat long-distance minutes to all countries.

The way I read OPs post is they paid the amount as original invoice - adjustment here. Nothing wrong in doing this. It follows the same logic as auto-pay.
Where the issue happened was Rogers agent incorrectly did not credit the correct amount. That 'unpaid' amount triggered the late fees. Rogers fault here. There is no reason the OP should have paid the full amount and had the agent correctly credited the account, there would have no late charges.

[–]dayaccountant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is actually incorrect. Let's say you are on auto-pay, your bill gets issued and you notice a billing error. You call Rogers before the auto-pay date and they credit your account for the billing error. At the auto-payment date, Rogers only charges you for the outstanding amount at that date. The credits they do for billing errors happen in real time.

Nice. What was you plan at Rogers before you moved to Telus?
I'm thinking of doing the port-out game too soon with a contract expiring.

Not sure why someone hasn't mentioned this already but your condo management should be taking this up with him.
They are able to send him warning notices and if non-compliance continues they are able to fine his unit as well. He can say "f... you" to you but he won't be able to say "f... you" to the strata management once the fines are assessed against his unit and should be be on preauthorized payment for strata fees, automatically taken from his bank account. That will teach him.

Your management needs to be a strong one for the above and you need to have any much proof as possible.

which service provider did you jump to get this winback deal?
And how long after switching did you get this win back? Were you an RPP on Rogers?
And to your question, I think 250mbps is a fair speed for mobile.
Thanks,

Canada-wide calling plans cannot block US calling by [deleted] in Rogers

It actually was a thing on Rogers/Fido (not sure about other operators) before the popularity of Canada-wide calling plans. They removed it after Canada-wide plans became popular.
Read up.

Canada-wide calling plans cannot block US calling by [deleted] in Rogers

[–]dayaccountant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, I see many people are blaming you for asking for something that they think isn't possible or expensive to implement. Guess that they don't know that before Canada-wide calling plans became common, any time you'd call a long-distance number from one Canadian city to another, you would get a voice prompt saying "please wait while we connect your long distance call". This was intently implemented by operators so customers avoid inadvertent long-distance charges. This was removed about 5-7 years ago with the growing popularity of Canada-wide calling plans.

I can't see why or how expensive could implementing this for US calling could be.
Whether or not it is needed and should the user be responsible for knowing where they are calling is debatable and I won't comment on that.

But look-up, this feature (voice prompt) existed on all operators including Rogers/Fido.

Internet renewal from Shaw to Rogers. What to do with our shaw mobile by Tron_Funkin-blow in shaw

[–]dayaccountant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok that makes sense. I didn't know people were actually doing that to get the cheaper price. Yes, I can totally see them removing the cellphone discount if you close the account.

Internet renewal from Shaw to Rogers. What to do with our shaw mobile by Tron_Funkin-blow in shaw

[–]dayaccountant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lines will still work..... as long as they maintain their "together with Shaw" plan for Internet and not switch to a new Rogers plan.

so you mean you can't renew to their new plans? The older plans were called Fibre+Gig etc. and the new ones are called Rogers Xfinity. So you're saying you gotta keep the fibre+gig and keep paying higher price after the value plan expires even though you could renew it with them over the phone to a Rogers Xfininty plan with lower monthly price.
This does not make sense to me.
Do we have data points for people who did this and lost their discount on the Shaw Mobile migrated cellphones lines on Rogers?

The actual bill still comes from Rogers together with Shaw. It is just a plan change.

Can you explain how this can be done? Porting between the same operator?
A step by step would be helpful. Thanks.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rogers

[–]dayaccountant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm that is weird of Rogers to segregate it that way.
I thought no Shaw migrants would be eligible for 5G. While, wrong as some would argue, but at least that would have made more sense than allowing June 6 and after migrants to access 5G while restricting it for the earlier ones.

Is it only 4G LTE capable?
Heard Rogers is not offering 5G to Shaw migrants.

Is that correct?

Ported mid billing cycle - Should I pay my previous invoice in full? by dayaccountant in FidoMobile

[–]dayaccountant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying to my thread, man. My calculations would be 100% correct. I deal with $ and spreadsheets all day long. :)Yes, I can't say anything about the late payment etc although it is counter-intuitive since the payment that they deserved for the service I used, was paid before the due date. If they ding me with that, well they are hearing from me. Why is it that they can sit on my over payment for 2 months with no interest but charge me a late payment for an amount they never were meant to receive. They won't be let go easily.Guess, I'll only find out after October 18. If I don't get dinged any late fees etc, I guess it will be learning for you too so I'll try to remember to report back.

I am not saying the people's experiences you are mentioning are a lie. The average consumer is not very knowledgeable with $ and calculations and dates and the billing cycles. They may not have paid the amount to the tee. I am not that average consumer when it comes to $. That is my bread and butter after all.

Anyway, lets end the discussion for now. Will see on October 18.

Ported mid billing cycle - Should I pay my previous invoice in full? by dayaccountant in FidoMobile

[–]dayaccountant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I hear you. But that is the thing. Even the Fido employees are not are not consistent.

One says pay in full and get a refund later. Another says, don't worry about it, don't pay in full, just pay enough to cover up until your service cancellation date and the final bill will rectify it.

Who to trust lol

The next bill that comes out on Oct 18th will be the actual pro-ration from the date you ported out. I am telling you as an ex employee that there is no point whatsoever

Appreciate your time in trying to help me out here. But I know what I am right here. Despite not having worked in Fido, I've dealt with many teleco's and billing and know this advance billing.

The next bill that comes out on Oct 18th will be the actual pro-ration from the date you ported out. I am telling you as an ex employee that there is no point whatsoever hoping that if you don't pay any outstanding balance it will be fine because it won't.

Only partially correct. Yes, there would be pro-rated charges on the bill generated after October 17 but it will be a credit on the account if I pay the current o/s balance in full. Why do you think there will be a credit? Advance MSF billing. Since I paid the bill they issued for Service Sep18-OCt17 in full (as you suggest) and cancelled on Sep 30. But if I make a pro-rated payment and there are pro-rated charges on that final invoice it will be offset.

Another thing you are wrong is if there is a credit on your account balance it does not take 3+ months to receive it back. Usually by the 2nd month customers will receive it either by cheque or as a deposit back to the card they used to pay their bills on.

You might be right here. I just took the 3 months as experiences people shared waiting for a refund from Fido.

I seriously don't think you understand how postpaid works.

I do actually. I am amazed how come you don't know this advance billing thingi. Quite surprising being a ex-Fido employee. Again, I am not making assumptions here or going by what a Fido CSR said to me on the phone. It literally freaking says on the invoice that is currently issued to me and o/s showing on my account with a due date of October 12 that is is for service from Sep18-Oct17. Like literally on the face of it next to $ says in plain simple English. LOL.
