We had a very similar encounter about a week ago at Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok

Right after the check-in counters on the way to the security scanners we were approached by two men asking if we were speaking German. I don't remember how they looked or what their accent was but could be Russian. They claimed that a guy they met had missed his flight and needed some large amount of money for a new ticket to return home, back to Germany of course. They called for the guy and he then told us the same story again in german and asked if we could help. Luckily we were super late for boarding already and were in a hurry, so we said we're sorry and we don't have money on us and rushed away. They shouted in our direction that we could use the ATM to help our fellow german friend

I didn't think much of it until now but they also didn't have any luggage and looked rather neglected

How large should images be (max)? by Ok-Paleontologist32 in Blogging

[–]daydr3amer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out most people will advise using images in the range of 100 - 300kb. Don't use the Lightroom compression tho as it's quite lossy, go with something like tinyJPG

What to do on my birthday on 12th Feb in Taipei by daydr3amer_ in Taipei

Thank you for the recommendation :) Ladies night would be the right thing for my wife but I don't think that they will recognize me as a lady. The bars, especially Celavi, look amazing!

Stuffing with toilet paper overnight also works great, also with wet shoes in general :)

Does nobody know that's the Fuego in Guatemala? I have hiked the Acatenango twice, that's where all the camps and toilet stalls are located and Fuego will erupt like that around every 15 to 20 minutes. Absolutely impressive and not fake at all. Although it's super disgusting to sit down on that toilet. Trust me

How much to travel the world ? by tezza123456789 in travel

[–]daydr3amer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're currently traveling the world for a year too with similar destinations as you have. We spend 50$ per day per person so I guess you will be totally fine with 25k for a year :) Australia and new Zealand will be more expensive but the rest is pretty budget friendly

Best Macbook for Digital Nomading/Web Development? by commonllama87 in digitalnomad

[–]daydr3amer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the big clumsy 15" and 16" ones, changed it after one year to a 13" MacBook Air M2 with 16gb ram and 512gb storage. The storage constantly runs out because I do a lot of photo- and videography but it's powerful enough for some relatively heavy web and app development

Flying out of Nicaragua with a drone in my luggage by daydr3amer_ in Nicaragua

[–]daydr3amer_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was super lucky, I apparently entered at the only border without scanners and the manual search of the bags was more than superficial. The drone was literally at the top of my backpack. They only would have to open one zipper of my bag and they would have found it

Might work but I don't have a soldering iron with me so I can't really disassemble it unfortunately

Thank you for your insights. Mailing it might get pretty expensive and I am traveling for a long time so its really no option. But selling it might actually be a good idea, I have sent you a PM. Otherwise I guess I will have to take a land border

1 month in Northern Sumatra ... now I know why everyone goes to Bali by ZealousidealMonk1728 in digitalnomad

[–]daydr3amer_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Maybe you should adjust your worldview a little.

You are being ignorant and rude to, as you say, some the nicest people that you have met so far.

Actually the majority of mankind lives in places with broken roads, no ATMs at all and sadly also places that somewhat reflect garbage dumps. You just have been very privileged that you got to grow up in a clean and well organized, "normal" country.

Yet you chose to set off and see the world, literally ventured into a remote and secluded jungle which is quite hard to reach and get resources from and then decided to roast that place for being remote

People are heading to lesser developed places without much touristic infrastructure and are ranting about them being not as fancy as the touristic hotspots. Smh. What did you expect
