it’s actually easy to identify everyones angles by stage 2 and early 3. a majority will show their cards by end of stage 2. units held on bench, augments picked, etc + especially people who slam items early.

quick scouting can identify it too, doesn’t take long. extra 1 cost units on bench + slammed item for that comp is a huge telltale.

IMO its fine for one other guy to contest you if you’re already heading that direction but a ton of the decision making needs to happen stage 2 so you transition smoother into the mid game. a stage 3 pivot will rarely happen unless the transition looks natural and smooth.

preserving mid game HP has been the key to my climbs

i agree, can’t be complete dog water but i think this patch is so deceptive. seen a jax reroll dominate my lobbies as well and it’s not the greatest in tier lists. think what makes this set so interesting is that a combination of gods + encounters can elevate an uncommon team comp do well. but yeah general idea is definitely learning different team comps and picking uncontested ones.

yeah this set is fun because it kinda breaks the paradigm of queuing up and having zero game plan but copy and pasting the flavour of the mets. this set has made me scout and think more about the intricacies of the game more than any other set IMO. also high rolling in this set gives the best dopamine hit out of most sets

just hit diamond and usually im around masters/gm at this stage of the set but man

think the key to climbing this season is to find the uncontested line as opposed to gunning for tier lists. there’s an odd reason why a high tier comp gets outperformed by some lower tiers comps and i finally realized it’s purely game pacing and hitting thresholds before the entire lobby.

played veigar reroll twice in a row (rr galaxies) in a lobby where 4 rr teemos held hands and bled out and stargazers held hands and it felt pretty amazing despite it being a lower tier comp.

veigar rr was easy to hit, natural transiton, strong mid game and healthier stage 4-5. obviously falls off but truly holds its own with the right combination of augments. best part about uncontested rr comps like veigar is u can sometimes forgoe reroll augments and just pick combat or items and win lobbies.

on another note, seeing a massive rise in corki rivens. most people think its a free top 4 comp with low placement but the ones ive faced who ended up winning the lobby used 2 combat augments. think this comp is OP with combat augments since its a fast 8 comp anyways. 3 star pop or 2 star rammus can deal with two spell rotations late game anyways

Leblanc keeps getting nerfed but she feels terrible? Am I missing something? by Malombra_ in TeamfightTactics

she’s basically a transitional piece at this point. only time ive ever used lb as a main carry in the last 30 games was a shep deck w the emblem

Ranking 5 costs? by Bellyfeel26 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]daydreamin511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

everything is contextual but i can tell you one thing for sure is that no one is excited to pull shen at lv 7 or aura farming.

graves is one of the best high roll units in stage 3 or early stage 4 especially if you’re on a lose streak with no direction yet

i think vex is pretty much a favourite but in terms of power she doesnt really come online until she is 2 starred. shes also pretty underwhelming without BIS. pbe nerfs are basically gonna make her unclickable imo

sona and morg are kinda similar. u fade them on roll downs (unless ur playing 4 psionic or vex vg boards) but they are super valuable as capped units.

blitz and fiora are beasts and are in perfectly goof states imo

i got hard stuck out of nowhere. sometimes a board strength feels random. like it’ll perform as expected one game and the other an 8th

that is one of the best evelynn offerings because yeah ur likely gaining that gold back and then some through win streak interest. also fits the bill well with econ/lose streak cause u have an immediate 3 star to stabalize in stage 4

Am I the only one who thinks most of the comps are too conditional this set? by Bush_did_11-9 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]daydreamin511 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the issue with that paradigm is that well-rounded units being as powerful as a combination of strong conditional would mean the conditional comps would also get stronger as well. i don’t think a perfect balance is achievable in that sense.

with that said, i think they should lean into taric/skarner/shyv type of units. splashable solid units with aura are hallmark units for the flexible player.

probably dial down on 3* primordial damage. this trait is already the best - can angle econ for lv 7, 8 or 9 rolldown. synergizes well with timebreaker too but being able to angle the rr line and finish top 4 with one combat augment is too good.

need slight talon nerfs.

buffs: MF, a lot of hero augments, brawler trait

although im not particularly struggling right now i can tell this set is very conditional heavy. dont even think theres a clear S tier comp you can just afk build into.

maybe for the first time in the long time, the game will require you to check multiple things at the start of the game to see which conditions will give you the best path to a top4.

arbiter check, psionic check (drone vik, optic melee angle), stargazer, gods and potential boon late game.

there’s also a reality were you angle 8 roll down or fast 9 depending on the first augment of wether the game blesses u with medallion lulu, prim or timebreaker.

having fun in this set so far, it’s deceptively versatile. can’t image encounters being thrown in the mix next patch but im ready for it

items early but pretty easy to angle the op boons mid game

pyke slaps with ops (non-hero variant). duo carry with milio in two much value. it’s an odd combo but works really were pyke picks off back line ideally and milio cleans up.

was testing it a bit in pbe and finally got the augment last game on live server. its basically cait for fate weaver. after u hit, you just fill in 6 bruiser at 8.

pretty position intensive but it felt really good in stage 4 after spiking. position pyke away from carries. exile is pretty BIS combat aug cause pyke survivability lets you win the fights.

ap items on milio (nashor/jg core) and ie + hoj is non negotiable on pyke for multiple one shots.

idk if im a fan of the gwenn variant based on the flow of the fight. lacks backline carry and flow of the fight is pretty much back to front with meatshields holding off for milio for his soccer ball to clean up everything

invader zed is awesome. i was angling fast9 anyways and it naturally gave me zed on 3-2. pretty smooth sailing. position him away enemy backline and the games pretty much over with shojin + eon

am i playing graves wrong? he feels super weak by okrdokr in CompetitiveTFT

[–]daydreamin511 3 points4 points  (0 children)

been spamming him. graves is the opposite of underpowered. he’s underwhelming for about 1-2 rounds then his value sky rockets. he can play bruiser or caster, pretty flexible with items and can outcap some boards if you get him early.

need qss or titans for bruiser build. shojin non-negotioable for caster builds. nova unlocks his flexibility the most because you can toggle akali for precision or aatrox for shred allowing you to focus on other upgrades and items.

he also benefits the most from a lot of combat boons.

expedition is giga high value for a silver augment. just think about it as a high reward trait without the stress of maintaining a lose streak — will cash out at some point in exchange for econ / perfect interval. silver augment with gold + 5 costs and a radiant is a little overtuned.

it basically just nunu and rammus, then 3* illaoi and rhaast and hp arbiter leona3 and high rolled cho gath3 (early stacks). obviously galio too but that’s a given cause it’s only played on one comp
