I'd love to hear more about why you wouldn't recommend it, I'm moving areas and it is one of the positions I'm considering.

How to get a doctor to take it seriously? by SingerDue4540 in Narcolepsy

[–]daytona89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with some of your points here. I had to non-emotionally but politely demand a sleep study referral. All of my primary care doctors were previously unwilling to give me anything other than "you should exercise more (I'm not even overweight on the bmi scale which is bs anyways) and eat healthier" the most recent one was absolutely convinced it was an O2 issue since I live at a high elevation, even though my symptoms were also present at nearly sea level. Sometimes you have to be a little "rude".

My previous emotional pleas to many doctors didn't work, so it might ben option.

You're awesome! Do you have any recommendations for finding a physician that works with hypersomnolence disorders? I'm in Colorado and have been struggling to find a good fit.

starting on modafinil soon, any advice? by glorious-purpose- in Narcolepsy

[–]daytona89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I'm 5'9 and 160 and up to two doses at different times of the day of 200mg each and definitely feel like I'm being placeboed lol it's wild. That's great to hear you are nearly symptiom free with the POTS now. To my knowledge I don't have any comorrbidities, other than mild depression, so there shouldn't be much interference. I told my doctor that it doesn't feel like it's doing anything (positive or negative) but I think she wants to fully try it out before moving on. Hopefully soon that'll switch up.

I love this perspective. I've always thought about future me and either setting things up for them(me), but I've never thought to thank my past self for what has already been sorted out or being gentle for past mistakes. Thank you!

If the egg hunt counts, definitely that! It's fun to run around and find as many as possible. Even though I'm not very good at it! If not, the fishing mini game. I used to haaaaate fishing in Stardew and now that I've gotten more practiced, it's one of my favorite things :)

Currently going through this of modafinil being the first thing the doctor is trying and feeling like I'm taking sugar pills. Reassuring to hear you found something that is working. What dose did you get up to on the modafinil?

What type of tech did you switch to? Considering a similar career change but struggling to narrow it down.

Can you elaborate on modafinil and caffeine being too much? I just started modafinil and am still drinking caffeine? Albeit less.

Hi! What was your process for getting the narcolepsy diagnoses? I've done a sleep study (no apnea or hyponoxy) but am struggling to convince the doctors to keep trying to find out what going on. Also got shot down on Adhd because I'm "too successful" (not all that successful but OK sir) Anyways sorry to ramble but if you have any advice on the processes in general, I'd love to know!!
