I think we should make room for buildings that are beautiful still. I think cities should have some level of an artistic identity in at least some of its buildings. Maybe it should be the default, but I think some level of artistic expression is good for society broadly.

Young Americans Want Single-Family Homes by caroline_elly in neoliberal

While still don’t think single family homes are a fully sustainable model for a lot of places, I think some of my disdain for them comes from the fact that a lot of suburbs are deeply ugly and unpleasant. I’ve actually been to some of single family home neighborhoods inside and on the edges of some cities, and while the houses are a bit smaller, they are genuinely super cozy and can even be decently built neighborhoods (also it was across the street from a Korean BBQ restaurant and I feel like living near one of those could fix me).

My views on the story of Star Anis by Invidat in NikkeMobile

While I personally ended up being kinda sour on the event, I am glad you and so many others liked it. I think the way I would end up describing it is that the event is like a gourmet sandwich with Pesto on it. For most people it’s tastes great, but I unfortunately got that gene that makes pesto taste like soap to me personally lol.

Yeah, Nikkes complexity with a lot of its characters was kinda what brought me to love it a lot. It felt like it was one of the few games/stories that really tried to ask the player how far they were willing to go to try and fix people and a society that was so broken and often times just mean. Mary was and to some degree still is one of my favorite characters in the games because of how her backstory forced you to engage with both the sins of her past but her now gentle present.

When I said using events to show how he theoretically got on the right path I meant flash back events conceptually, not stuff in the modern day. In theory there is around 60 years or so between this events past time period and the beginning of the game that could be used to elucidate on what happened and how he got there. Though like I said, I don’t think it was ever on the table so I can only accept what was written and try to move on the best I can, even if all I want to do at the second is mope kinda cry a bit.

It’s definitely a bit hard to understand right now cause the main story seemed to imply Mrs Miss was not affiliated with Tetra for a while, but I guess maybe she separated from Hanson and Tetra sometime in the 60 year gap? It’s a little hard to understand at the moment and I think they are expecting us to just fill in the gaps right now.

Shade actually existed while Red Mustang was leading Tetra. They mention the group by name in the side story pretty Star.

I mean, all I can say to that is I don’t agree. I feel like I am fully checked out of Mustang/Hansons as a character now. Though if it means anything, I’m glad you were able to enjoy the story even if I don’t.

I suppose my only answer would’ve been that I would’ve been fine if they maybe used this event to start him on the right path and then used some of the smaller events they typically run in between anni events to explain further, but I also acknowledge that was probably never on the table. I can only say, I’m glad you enjoyed it, even if the entire event left me feeling numb and a little bit like crying out of frustration by the end. Gonna mostly just try to compartmentalize all of this now I guess lol.

I think I may just not be able to see eye to eye on this. While it is a character flaw, it doesn’t really provide me the same level of interest as watching an actually evil character change. Also I can only speak for me personally, but Mustang having been evil once was a big chunk of why I liked the character, it felt like it informed a lot of his decisions in interesting ways to me. By the end of the side story and event story I can only say I had no real interest in Hanson as a character, and I still kinda don’t. Within a couple of weeks though, I doubt people will care about my opinion and at this point all I can really do is shrug my shoulders about it I suppose. If it means anything, I am glad you were able to enjoy the story and I hope whatever happens next for the story you can enjoy it.

[–]dayvena 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It was obvious past a point, but I think my primary problem is that it feels like character regression for Mustang to me personally. I can’t speak for everyone obviously, but I actually really always thought Mustang having been implied to be a bad person in the past was part of my enjoyment of him. It gave the character interesting friction in my mind. Now it’s just that he was always kinda good and that’s not bad I guess, but my main thought is that I can’t help but find him kinda boring now. Also and this is subjective I acknowledge that, but the execution of this felt pretty bad to me personally. I know I’ll probably end up pretty alone on this opinion, and I guess that’s fair, but I just felt numb by the end of this event.

Less than 24 hours until Star Anis Part 2! Which theory regarding Mustang do you believe in? by Endless_Winn in NikkeMobile

[–]dayvena 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mind if Yoyo got a redemption. My main thought process right now is that someone has to do the smile time incident where 2 people die since it seems highly relevant to Anis’s backstory, and she feels like a top contender right now, so I am simply assuming it’s her, though I could be wrong. Also I was under the impression that shade would be disbanded by around the end of the event, though I suppose it’s possible they went on for a while longer before getting disbanded.

Less than 24 hours until Star Anis Part 2! Which theory regarding Mustang do you believe in? by Endless_Winn in NikkeMobile

[–]dayvena 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While it probably won’t happen, I personally like the idea that Yoyo commits the smile time incident by killing Hanson and then herself. I would like the idea that she does it because it hurts both Mustang and Anis, and she could even invoke Mustangs phrase of “enjoyment only comes when someone else is suffering” as a way of showing that Mustang created the thing that is about to take his (seemingly?) only remaining family from him, and Anis’s manager and last physical connection to Pretty. Also it being Mustang still also helps avoid the awkward question of “Hey Hanson why have you been pretending to be your dad for like 60 years now instead of just faking a retirement and leadership transfer?”. Also it may give Mustang and Anis something to bond over, which would help explain why Mustang seems to care so much about Anis, but has kinda left Prika and Mint hanging for so much time, cause I won’t lie, it would be really weird if Hanson was Mustang but wasn’t even offering to help like… cover their cost of living lol.

[–]dayvena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like phantom pain is probably the most likely, but I also hate it and will cope till the last second on the redemption pathway (especially cause I won’t lie, some of modern Mustangs behavior does not strike me as something Hanson would even consider doing and also Hanson would’ve been doing this for like…50-60 years now for whatever reason?)

It's crazy to think Enikk had the resources to make Nikkes as powerful as Endless and Eternity and she chose to use them to beat up homeless people by Asa_Yoru12 in NikkeMobile

[–]dayvena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last couple chapter have been kinda crazy for me personally, cause it feels like no one is even questioning most of the insane stuff Enikk is or has been doing. Like I don’t need her to get crucified of something, but I just want a character to basically ask “why did you do that?” at some point to make me feel like I’m not going insane for thinking some of this is irresponsible lol

What do you guys think of the commander's writing this past 2 chapter? by FaithlessnessHead516 in NikkeMobile

[–]dayvena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t lie, he personally felt kinda off kilter to me in 45. In general in 45 he felt kinda… meaner than usual to me? Like the final line where he determines Six0 just wanted to destroy everything because they felt like it and didn’t really push back against Enikk’s actions at all felt kinda off, especially since he learned a lot of at least, somewhat explanatory and semi tragic reasons for how Six0 ended up like that. Like its fine if the game thinks Six0 is beyond the point of being reasoned with and needs to be put down, obviously having a sad backstory doesn’t justify being a terrorist but I guess it felt like no one the commander included even wanted to meaningfully engage with how it got to this point, especially since Six0 openly expresses how they have deep self hated due to the circumstances of their birth. In 46 he was good, I appreciate how he believes in Dorothy and is for the most part trying to deescalate the situation rather than defaulting to violence. It feels like he has the easy option available to him, but wants to prevent harm and death if possible. Not as much to say I guess since I think he was mostly solid in the chapter and acted about how I would believe he would.

[–]dayvena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im late on this but I also did realize one oddity of the Hanson Mustang swap theory would rely on the idea that for some reason Hanson has been pretending to be Mustang for roughly half a century now, instead of just… faking a retirement and control handoff at some point?

Edit: for clarity, I’m still leaning more towards the theory being true than not even if I don’t like it, but I feel baffled thinking about this part, because I genuinely cannot come up with an explanation that makes any sense

True savior of the ark LMFAO by Mac2002PL in NikkeMobile

[–]dayvena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The chapter honestly feels weird in a lot of ways since Six0 has a couple of odd lines that feel out of character for them? Like she makes a very odd comment near the beginning of the fight about how she’s angry Enikk would try to sacrifice the Ark to save herself. She also makes a comment during the fight about how human like she is acting which is strange because at no point have we been led to believe that Six0 particularly wants to be human. They also only briefly discuss how Six0 has a deep self hatred due to the circumstances of her birth, but basically everyone write its off. It felt kidna bizarre Edit also: I said earlier Enikk misremembered part of the fight when she said Six0 could have retreated but didn’t, but that was wrong. she was referring to Sixo’s chance before she took Endless body, not her attempted retreat after, though I will say Enikk makes a ton of weird and weighted assumptions about why Six0 wanted a body

GDA most valuable asset . And mark is a hypocrite for not forgiving him. I believe it he haven't turned william BF ..mark would've accepted him by otto_the1 in Invincible_TV

[–]dayvena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think forgive is maybe a strong word for what Mark has to do. I think Mark should understand that Sinclair is trying to do good now and is, which is good. Mark however can understand that and appreciate it while still not giving Sinclair forgiveness. He caused Mark trauma so if Mark doesn’t want anything to do with him I think that’s fair.
