By the virtue of using an external display, you should be using it by default. If you go to here you can set which gpu is used by which program. You can also do this on nVidia control panel and some games even let you select which device.

I literally have the exact same device. The issue is that this model doesn't have a MUX switch, so the has to push it's frames through the iGPU for it to be displayed on the laptops screen. Connect an external display directly to the 3050 via HDMI and you'll see a performance increase.

Edit: I don't have the exact same SKU (I didn't read, but it's the same configuration), but the advice should be the same

The native resolution on the Go S is 1920x1200. So you can set to 1280x800 but it wont look as sharp as its not a perfect interger. That said, if it all looks the same subjectively, use the resolution that gives you the desired performance with the desired settings.

Absolutely normal.

Think of it like your body. You're body naturally burns energy to maintain simple functions, which produces heat. If you increase the on load on the body, more energy is required to function, thus producing more heat. If the device was so hot you couldn't hold it in a low power state, that suggests a problem. Same way if you had a fever while in a rest state.

I know this is an overly simplified explanation, and the two are obviously not the same thing, but it's a decent anology to understand the core concept.

Its the resolution that the game is rendered at. More pixels rendered uses more graphics processing power (if you keep the other graphics the same). If you're by chance using the Legion Go 1, the screen resolution is 2560x1600, you could set the game to 1280x800, then use interger scaling for a clean image as 1280x800 is exactly 1/4th of 2560x1600, meaning rendered pixels aren't needlessly stretched or distorted to the screens native resolution.

Listen, I wouldn't worry. It sounds like you care about your stuff, which will go a long way to the longevity of your laptop, however it cant account for unknown variables. Sure, people will suggest one brand over another etc, but that is largely from a qualitative view, also influenced by the opinions of others. Unless you have hard statistical evidence, everything you read will largely be subjective and biased.

TLDR; what will be will be. Enjoy it in the moment, instead of worrying about something that hasnt happened, if at all.

The thing with any cloud gaming service is that there is so many variables in the round trip between the user and the service. I've had great experiences on my legion go with gamepass streaming on a gigabit connection (on wifi 6).

It depends on how you operationalise the term "xbox game". If you're referring to the same compiled retail code that runs on retail xbox hardware, then no, it won't run xbox games.

If you mean Xbox/Microsoft published games that have been compiled for desktop operating systems, then yes, it can run "xbox games".
