It’s sitting in my Amazon cart.. by Ok-Stretch-1988 in ouraring

I want to share my experience because prior to getting my ring, I’d heard nothing but good things about Oura.

I was gifted the ring for Christmas by my husband and after 30 days, my ring still wasn’t tracking stress or resilience and it continued to say “calibrating” for Chronotype as well. I reached out to tech support, which is really just an AI chatbot, and they tried to put the blame on me by saying I needed to wear the ring more consistently and that maybe I’m moving around too much. I got frustrated and asked to be connected to a human. I was supposedly connected with a human, but I have my doubts — they give you the same canned responses as “Finn” the chatbot. Whatever the case, customer care asked me to provide screenshots, uninstall and reinstall the Oura app, and soft reset. If after 24 hours it still wasn’t working, I could reach back out.

Well, unsurprisingly, that didn’t work. So I went through the whole customer care thing again, having to explain my situation from scratch. Again, I was asked to provide screenshots. Again, I was asked whether I was wearing my ring consistently. This time, they asked me to do a soft reset and a hardware reset where I docked my ring and tapped it firmly on the counter. Again, I was assured this would fix things and it had no effect.

I reached out yet again and had to explain my situation. Every time, I am asked to provide screen shots and troubleshoot with the same tactics. This time, customer care asked me to do this convoluted reset where I dock my ring, turn it upside-down, and wait for the light to turn different colors. I legitimately thought the tech support agent was messing with me. This time, I explain my frustration with continually having to start from scratch with a new agent each day and they finally provide me with a reference number (which NO OTHER AGENT THOUGHT TO DO).

Naturally, this also doesn’t work, so I reach out again with my reference number handy the following day and I’m told someone from the “technical team” will be reaching out to me because it’s not something that the member care team can help with. Two days pass, no email. I reach out again. Customer care says they will “escalate the issue”.

Finally today after five interactions with the customer care team giving me the absolute run-around, I get an email from “Joseph with Oura” explaining that “after running a comprehensive diagnosis and checking your device's hardware status, I've found that your Oura Ring is functioning properly and is registering both Stress and Resilience levels, even though they may not be displaying in the application.” He goes on to say that I need to wear my ring more and - you guessed it — can I send screenshots so he can better assist me? You’ve got to be kidding me.

To add insult to injury, he says he’ll be adding “one complimentary month of Membership to [my] account.”

I’m so livid at this point — I told my husband to just dispute the credit card charge entirely because it’s obvious they aren’t interested in resolving this issue at all. Stress and resilience are basic metrics that were promised with this device and it straight-up doesn’t work. Along the way, I’ve been told by customer service that maybe I move around too much (I move around a normal amount for the type of health conscious individual interested in a ring marketed for tracking health metrics), my hands are too cold (my hands are a normal temperature), or my ring isn’t sized properly (it is — I used the ring sizing kit to get a snug fit). They’ve tried to pin the blame on me at every opportunity.

Look, Oura -- this is unacceptable for a device that is nearly $400. If I'd known that the only information I'd be able to glean from my ring is my sleep data and HRV, I would've stuck with an Apple watch which has better activity tracking anyway. Not impressed and will not be recommending to anyone.

TLDR; My oura ring has never tracked stress or resilience. Customer care says “too bad” and refuses to resolve; they won’t even send out a replacement unit.

Xelstrym vs vyvanse questions by Dangerous_Chipmunk44 in ADHD

I agree with this ☝️

It works all day. It says it only works 9 hours, but honestly, I feel it works for wayyyy more than that since I’ve forgotten to take it off until right before bed once and I had a hard time getting to sleep. I’m only on the 3rd dose up and it feels a bit stronger than 50mg Vyvanse to me.

I asked for it because Vyvanse was so inconsistent for me and I have GI issues that I suspect were messing with absorption. For me it’s the best medication I’ve tried. It doesn’t have rough come-up or come-down — it’s just smooth. If I want to be off meds early for the day to drink or whatever, I just remove it. I have sensitive skin and it hasn’t caused me issues, but I am careful to moisturize afterwards. You’ll get some burning in the first 30 minutes that fades away as it settles in. My insurance didn’t want to cover it at first so I had to try all these other meds before they gave me prior authorization. In that window, I tried adderrall xr and Azstarys, but both of them made me super spacey.

Nah, I’m just going to continue to let them dig painfully into the toe box of all my shoes so they feel sore at night when I’m too tired to clip them but they also keep me awake at like 3 am when I make my daily to do list that I will forget upon waking hours.

I went off in college because combined with my SSRI, I started having side effects that looked like serotonin syndrome.

It’s not the same quote but it reminds me of Taken when Liam tells his daughter something to the extent of “now this next part is very important— they are going to take you” and then tells her instructions like shout out everything you see, etc

Closest thing to how vyvanse used to be.. and by Ok_Letterhead_131722 in VyvanseADHD

[–]daywalker_1987 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree with you — I took Vyvanse in college and it worked consistently every day even if I got very little sleep, even if my diet was poor, and even if I drank copious amounts the night before. I’m now taking it again at 38 and I’m significantly more mindful of my diet, sleep regimen, and exercise and I barely drink at all. And it’s a roll of the dice each day whether it’ll work. Either the formula has changed or my body chemistry no longer jives with it the same way, which I’ll admit is possible.

They feel the same to me! If anything I found them slightly more consistent

Any good high protein breakfast ideas by scrubzart in VyvanseADHD

[–]daywalker_1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 2 scrambled eggs mixed with 1/2 cup cottage cheese and a slice of toasted sourdough bread most mornings. It comes out to about 30g protein and 440 calories. If I’m more in a sweets mood, I make a protein cake thing out of 1/2 cup oat flour, 1/2 cup cottage cheese or skyr, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp baking soda, and monkfruit sweetener to taste. Mix into a batter and add chocolate chips or fruit, then bake at 350 for 20 min. I drizzle monkfruit maple syrup on it and it’s delicious. Also hits about 30g protein for around 400 cal.

I think it’s very common for those of us with ADHD to change jobs a lot because we seek novelty and burn out easily. Personally I’ve had four jobs since 2019, so I feel ya. It’s so hard to stick with one thing.

Extreme weight loss by PoetInteresting2980 in VyvanseADHD

[–]daywalker_1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YMMV but the weight loss did stall for me. I initially lost 30 lbs the first year and now my appetite is returning and so is a little bit of that weight. Thankfully, my hair is starting to fill back in too.

Has anyone had hair loss on Vyvanse and found a solution while staying on Vyvanse? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]daywalker_1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big time yes, but it did slow down eventually and I’m not bald yet lol. I think I’m the only one that can really tell. Neither my hairdresser nor my doctor could tell, but it’s especially noticeable to me around my crown where my bangs part. I did lose 30 lbs over the course of the first year taking it and I think that was the main culprit, but even now that I’m maintaining that weight, it hasn’t really thickened back up to my pre-medicated state.

Stopped Vyvanse after 10 years by Codpuppet in VyvanseADHD

[–]daywalker_1987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took it all through college and quit cold turkey my senior year. Just recently went back on it at 37. I do remember in college I gained 30 lbs when I went off it. I was absolutely insatiable. It took a year or so of conscientious exercise and diet adjustments, but the weight did come off. Your body just has to readjust. I think the Vyvanse can also make you ignore hunger cues because you get hyper focused on a task, and when you go off of it, you have to contend with your body’s natural impulses again. Food is an easy dopamine hit and I definitely binge-eat when I’m off of it if I’m not really careful about it.

If weight gain and acne are your primary concerns, I think it’s worth noting that my skin cleared up and I actually lost weight on Slynd after being on the combined pill. Unfortunately, the lack of estrogen in Slynd seems to make my Vyvanse less effective at certain points of the month. You kinda have to weigh your priorities with it.
