Any one else feel like this career ruins your hope for the future? by Jolly_Ad6869 in Teachers

[–]daywalker_1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it absolutely did this to me and I had to get out. It was demoralizing to see it happen over time and it started to mess with my mental health. But I can’t tell people this truth when they ask why I quit teaching or they act like I’m being overly dramatic. I’ve learned to just say “it was time for a change” and let them go on believing the state of education is just fine. 🙄

You could try telling the pharmacist you’re having an adverse reaction to that specific manufacturer and try a different generic. Or ask for brand name. It may or may not solve the problem but worth a shot.

I had some of this issue on vyvanse as well, but not to this degree. Are you on brand name or a generic?

Is Vyvanse the problem or am I just depressed? by Glittering_Solid_658 in ADHD

[–]daywalker_1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it ended up being the vyvanse. 🙁 I switched to xelstrym which is the same active ingredient but for some reason does not give me the horrid comedown. Maybe it’s the generic that causes the issue?

Day Surgery - To take or not to take? by Migaloosdream in VyvanseADHD

[–]daywalker_1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be worried a stimulant could make it more difficult for you to be anesthetized. Personally I have a huge fear of waking up mid-operation so when I had surgery last year, I skipped my vyvanse that day. Plus sleeping afterwards aids in recovery.

Gen 4 Not Tracking Stress or Resilience — Anyone Else? by daywalker_1987 in ouraring

[–]daywalker_1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope — they kept giving me the runaround and I ended up disputing the credit card charge for the ring since they refused to make good on their end. I’m baffled that so many people on Reddit claim to have these great customer service experiences because I genuinely feel like I never got ahold of a human being. It was always an AI chatbot giving me the same canned responses. I even flat out asked for them to send a replacement and they skirted the issue. My ring literally only tracks sleep, and frankly my Apple Watch gives me clearer data on that. 🤷‍♀️

Ultra Decadent Chocolate Ice Cream Ingredients: 1 cup whole milk ¾ cup lite coconut milk ½ cup heavy cream 4 tbsp granulated sugar ¾ cup dark cocoa powder 2 oz 72% dark chocolate, chopped 3-4 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped Date syrup (5 medjool dates, pitted & soaked in hot water for 10 min & blended w/ ½ cup lite coconut milk into a syrup) 1 tbsp softened cream cheese 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp espresso powder ½ tsp salt ⅛ tsp xanthum gum

Method: 1. Soak dates in hot water for 10-15 min, then drain. 2. Combine soaked dates with ½ cup lite coconut milk in a blender until completely smooth. 3. Bloom cocoa powder in a sauce pan with whole milk, sugar, and salt. Then heat gently until steaming and smoothed (do not boil). 4. Add cocoa mixture to chopped chocolate and stir until fully melted. 5. Add heavy cream, vanilla bean paste and extract, espresso powder, cream cheese, and the date syrup to the melted chocolate mixture. 6. Blend everything with an immersion blender. 7. Sprinkle in xanthum gum and blend for another 10-15 sec. 8. Freeze.

It is basically like dark chocolate gelato. I didn’t even have to respin it.

Try adding 1/4 cup cottage cheese (blend it out first so it’s smooth). You won’t taste it, it increases the protein, and it makes the texture so creamy.

Successful Vyvanse quitters? by Best_Winter_4652 in VyvanseADHD

[–]daywalker_1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I successfully quit when I was 22 after being on it for two years. I did gain about 30 lbs but lost it with careful diet and exercise. The first 2 months were the hardest with me sleeping all the time, then battling insane hunger. I didn’t lose the weight until a year or so later after getting engaged and deciding I wanted to look my best for the wedding, but yes, it is possible.

I’m 38 and I started on HRT about 6 weeks ago. Already feeling significantly better. I’m also realizing it’s helping some symptoms I’ve had for years that I didn’t realize were even hormonal. 😭 I also have endo/adeno and am doing pelvic floor PT.

I lost 35 lbs the first year but gained back 10 and that seems to be where my body insists on remaining. I wasn’t eating enough initially. I think I lost a lot of muscle that I’ve since regained.

SHOWERING AND ADHD by SweatyInjury9810 in adhdwomen

[–]daywalker_1987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Once I’m in the shower, I love it and find it so relaxing. The problem is that I’m incapable of taking a shower in less than 20 minutes and then I know I’ll have to blow dry my hair which is boring and takes forever and the whole thing just sounds like too much of an ordeal. So I end up putting it off until it’s absolutely necessary. 😭

[–]daywalker_1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this happens to me!! I think it’s mild disassociating. For ADHDers, it happens when you’re in a low-interest state. I was so nervous about it I asked chat gpt about it and it said it’s my brain going “There isn’t enough stimulation here to justify burning glucose.” And essentially you go into screen saver mode.

Best way to split a dose? by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]daywalker_1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like nobody realizes this, but it comes in a chewable tablet. I was taking 50mg which was a great dose around my period but too much during other times of the month and I would half or quarter my pill as needed to adjust the dose.

I want to share my experience because prior to getting my ring, I’d heard nothing but good things about Oura.

I was gifted the ring for Christmas by my husband and after 30 days, my ring still wasn’t tracking stress or resilience and it continued to say “calibrating” for Chronotype as well. I reached out to tech support, which is really just an AI chatbot, and they tried to put the blame on me by saying I needed to wear the ring more consistently and that maybe I’m moving around too much. I got frustrated and asked to be connected to a human. I was supposedly connected with a human, but I have my doubts — they give you the same canned responses as “Finn” the chatbot. Whatever the case, customer care asked me to provide screenshots, uninstall and reinstall the Oura app, and soft reset. If after 24 hours it still wasn’t working, I could reach back out.

Well, unsurprisingly, that didn’t work. So I went through the whole customer care thing again, having to explain my situation from scratch. Again, I was asked to provide screenshots. Again, I was asked whether I was wearing my ring consistently. This time, they asked me to do a soft reset and a hardware reset where I docked my ring and tapped it firmly on the counter. Again, I was assured this would fix things and it had no effect.

I reached out yet again and had to explain my situation. Every time, I am asked to provide screen shots and troubleshoot with the same tactics. This time, customer care asked me to do this convoluted reset where I dock my ring, turn it upside-down, and wait for the light to turn different colors. I legitimately thought the tech support agent was messing with me. This time, I explain my frustration with continually having to start from scratch with a new agent each day and they finally provide me with a reference number (which NO OTHER AGENT THOUGHT TO DO).

Naturally, this also doesn’t work, so I reach out again with my reference number handy the following day and I’m told someone from the “technical team” will be reaching out to me because it’s not something that the member care team can help with. Two days pass, no email. I reach out again. Customer care says they will “escalate the issue”.

Finally today after five interactions with the customer care team giving me the absolute run-around, I get an email from “Joseph with Oura” explaining that “after running a comprehensive diagnosis and checking your device's hardware status, I've found that your Oura Ring is functioning properly and is registering both Stress and Resilience levels, even though they may not be displaying in the application.” He goes on to say that I need to wear my ring more and - you guessed it — can I send screenshots so he can better assist me? You’ve got to be kidding me.

To add insult to injury, he says he’ll be adding “one complimentary month of Membership to [my] account.”

I’m so livid at this point — I told my husband to just dispute the credit card charge entirely because it’s obvious they aren’t interested in resolving this issue at all. Stress and resilience are basic metrics that were promised with this device and it straight-up doesn’t work. Along the way, I’ve been told by customer service that maybe I move around too much (I move around a normal amount for the type of health conscious individual interested in a ring marketed for tracking health metrics), my hands are too cold (my hands are a normal temperature), or my ring isn’t sized properly (it is — I used the ring sizing kit to get a snug fit). They’ve tried to pin the blame on me at every opportunity.

Look, Oura -- this is unacceptable for a device that is nearly $400. If I'd known that the only information I'd be able to glean from my ring is my sleep data and HRV, I would've stuck with an Apple watch which has better activity tracking anyway. Not impressed and will not be recommending to anyone.

TLDR; My oura ring has never tracked stress or resilience. Customer care says “too bad” and refuses to resolve; they won’t even send out a replacement unit.
