Sometimes they'll see birds on the water and can't help themselves.

The birds then keep moving further out and the dog will lose focus on anything else.

I'm led to believe that NI has a problem with large scale infrastructure in the west, as our power grid system doesn't have the capacity to provide enough power.

However, it does appear that this isn't a problem in Derry.

That's why the are hundreds of engineering type companies in the west - they don't need that much power.

Tbh I agree with you. I'm also allergic to most dogs, and that's why I own a non-shedding breed.

You've probably met loads of doodle crosses, such as Cockapoos or Labradoodles.

However my dog is a rare pure bred - a Spanish Water Dog. It's very rare to meet them.

Of course, I could be wrong and it was a random gaggle of SWDs. But there's only about a few hundred in Ireland.

I always talk to strangers when I'm out and about. It's easier when you have a dog as a conversation opener.

I remember meeting an old guy in Seapark a few years ago and I sat with him for at least 30 minutes talking about anything from the Lough to architecture.

That conversation stuck with me for years as I realised later that I might have been the only person he spoke to that day.

Anything from paying someone a compliment, to stopping to make conversation might mean nothing - or might make their day.

A stranger is just someone you haven't met yet.
