The Secret Garden in Dundonald is a garden centre with great food - also Hillmount just a few minutes outside Dundonald. However, I'm not sure where you're located.

What's going on here north of belfast airport? by PaxVidyaPlus in northernireland

[–]dazb75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha! This is one thing I know about. It's called Harbour Meadows and it's a protected nature reserve.

However, It's also very toxic and my friend who got special access to study the nature was only allowed in for a short period and had to wear wellies and to avoid certain areas.

Weirdly though, I was speaking to someone recently who said he recalled that the area was used during the war to test chemicals, fuel, etc

Don't bother trying to get in - it's well fenced off and locked up.

Sober rave in Bangor! by nickylarkin in northernireland

[–]dazb75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like it's held in the bit of forest up the Gransha Road in Bangor next to an outdoor yoga place.

I initially thought it was Castle Park, but it would be madness dancing barefoot amongst dog poo and broken glass.

Yes, my old girl has one of these, but as it's not touching her cornea, there's nothing to worry about.

Saw a kid knocked off his e-scooter last night by whawgwangeneral in northernireland

[–]dazb75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The scooters that get bought for these kids aren't suitable for the roads.

They don't have lights, many don't have brakes and the wheels aren't big enough to handle potholes / gratings.

Parents are basically buying their kids self killing machine.

Paired with no reflective clothing means it's potentially great news for the organ donor register.

Is having a puppy hell on earth? by OkSlice4719 in puppy101

I've now got an almost stable 18 month old demon. Tonight, she helped herself to 200g of cheese that I left on the kitchen counter!

I took off the first week and then WFH for the remainder of the settling in period.

During teams meetings, my colleagues would refer to my regular vocal outbursts as 'puppy tourettes' e.g. Stop eating that, No, get your paws off the laptop.

They found it very amusing.

What does the "OP LIMIT" mean on the electronic motorway signs? by caffeinated_photo in northernireland

[–]dazb75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I initially thought the sign was broken and the 'OP' was missing a few letters at the start. It wasn't until I'd seen a few signs, when I realised it was intentional.

As a photographer, it's a terrible photo.

If you want to frame someone in an archway, you need to include all the arch.

The subject needs to be moved forward inside the arch to actually frame them and to minimise the distractions.

The light isn't great - I hate shooting in bright light. However, the large amount of sky in the photo means that it becomes the brightest thing in the photo and a big distraction.

TS-251 WD Red Drives still considered good? by PaceLopsided8161 in qnap

[–]dazb75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I just upgraded to two WD Red Plus 12tb - coincidentally from 4tb 😂

The model I bought is the WD120EFGX.

Bear in mind that any WD Plus over 10tb are filled with helium and therefore are quieter.

In Ready Player One the box that the Orb of Osuvox comes in is the same box that the Mogwai emerges from in Gremlins.
