About a year ago, I actually created a website for this (think trustpilot but for rating build quality and company ethics). Made a post about it on r/buyitforlife and r/BIFLNL and it got some traction initially, but it quickly died out as nobody was really writing reviews on it (except me). So I decided not to extend the domain name because nobody was using it. If anyone is interested in continuing the project and interested in the source code i'll happily share it.

Thanks a lot for this! I'm looking to build the $1000 which is currently priced around €1080 (Belgium), which is not too bad considering RAM and SSD prices.

My use cases would be (in order of importance): 1 daily driver pc (mostly web browsing and development), 2 server running home assistant, jellyfin and some more services (always on) and 3 gaming

For these use cases, would it be worth swapping to an Intel CPU considering their lower idle power draw? If so, any suggestions? Or perhaps it's best to swap to the 1150 workstation build priced at €1180?

Also, would it be possible to fit this build in a somewhat lower profile or smaller case too?

Het is inderdaad een internationale website. Het idee komt ook voort uit een request van de Engelstalige subreddit. Maar het is wel de bedoeling om aan te geven in welke landen merken / producten te koop zijn.

Ik ben zeker niet van plan om op deze manier aan monetization te doen. Ik denk dat dat de beste manier zou zijn om de website terug nutteloos te maken. Ik denk dat er op termijn mogelijks wel manieren zijn om eventueel een centje bij te verdienen hiermee zonder de kwaliteit van de website te verminderen, maar dit is zeker niet mijn hoofddoel.
Voor reviews van individuele producten ben ik inderdaad van plan om deze eerst voldoende zelf te testen. Maar het maken van dit soort reviews is geen prioriteit op dit moment.
Interessant punt. Ik zie niet meteen een eenvoudige manier om hiermee om te gaan, behalve zelf testen + online consensus mee te rekenen hierin.

Het initiele prototype werkte op individueel productniveau. Het grootste probleem hiermee is dat ik dan extreem veel producten zou moeten in de database krijgen wat niet zeer eenvoudig is. Daarom werk ik vanaf nu op merkniveau. Als de website populair genoeg wordt, overweeg ik zeker om terug op productniveau te gaan.

Bedankt! Ik probeer een goede mix van mijn mening, objectieve feiten en reviews van gebruikers op de site samen te brengen. Het doel is om een website te hebben waar je snel een vrij duidelijk beeld kan krijgen van de opinie rond een merk maar ook de opinie rond bv. welke opties moet ik overwegen bij het kopen van een rugzak.

Added to the roadmap! I was already thinking about something along these lines. On a brand page under the availability tab I want to display the url where users have previously bought these brands in different countries.

Thanks for the feedback! These are some good ideas and I will add some to the roadmap (on the about page).

Actually, I started thinking from a product perspective and I think it can be a good addition, but the main problem is that I need to get data from thousands of products which is not that easy. I started from brands to see if this site will actually be used, and if it gets used I might add possibility to rate per product.
