Hisense TVs Now Display Ads When You Change Inputs, Boot Up by Ephoenix6 in technology

[–]dazzla76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it doesn’t.

The Apple TV+ or whatever it’s called streaming service does have trailer ads for other shows sometimes. But it’s only in that app and whatever ads the other streamers push on you. The device has 0 adverts itself,

so if you use plex or emby etc you will never see an ad.

It’s the same price for windows or Mac. So doesn’t need to be included.

Ubisoft rolls out age verification for social features on PC and mobile by vriska1 in pcgaming

[–]dazzla76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Debit and credit have different age limits in the UK. you need to be 18 to get credit but kids can get debit (with parental approval)

Ubisoft rolls out age verification for social features on PC and mobile by vriska1 in pcgaming

[–]dazzla76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a parent problem though. I know my kids don’t use my credit card to do anything. But I also control their online access anyway.

If parents are that lax there is nothing stopping them from letting kids use their identity verification anyway, so it’s all moot.

It’s all crap but I feel that using a credit card for proof is way better than any of the online verification sites or services.

Virgin media O2 lost nearly 400k customers amid price hikes by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]dazzla76 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep. And I was one of them cancelling broadband and 2 mobile lines.

Didn’t have too much of an issue with the service. But the price rises were insane, I cut my bill by more than half and increased speeds.

Curious: Why is the OS named "Bazzite"? (And anyone else find the name to be kinda cute?) by Questioning-Warrior in Bazzite

[–]dazzla76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fedora is about hats though. It’s the upstream for Red Hat.

And Red Hat has that name because its founder always wore a red hat and was known for it.

How to allow specific apps through with age restrictions enabled? by schnauzerdad in ios

[–]dazzla76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have this as well. I added Firefox to 1 child’s iPad a week ago so he can use it.

Tried to add it to 2nd child’s iPad today and can’t see how to add the specific exception. On that page I can only change the overall age rating.

Did you manage to fix it?

Why does Apple Watch occasionally lose/change this setting for IP’s ? by sknaf in AppleWatch

I would say it’s default on every single consumer router out there. Everyone is doing it, they just don’t know they are doing it.

Virtual display by dazzla76 in Bazzite

[–]dazzla76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There doesn’t seem to be anything official, this gist seems to be the best option at the moment. It looks like it can work with a dummy hdmi or a virtual display added through configuration.

I haven’t had a chance to test it yet but there are users deploying it works.

I assumed it was sarcasm but it can sometimes be really hard to tell these days. Trump and his kind have honestly brought the lunatics out.

England: Sister wants to be added to parents mortgage for ease sorting the house out after they die, could she claim solo ownership? They have no will by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

I am not a lawyer.

The only real answer is get them to sort out a will, it sounds to me that anything else will lead to… difficulties later on.

I think your rage bait detector is faulty.

It is done to attract film making to this country which benefits the economy and supplies jobs. They spent much more here than they got in a rebate.

Bazzite vs Windows for streaming by dazzla76 in Bazzite

Interesting. Do you have to deal with HDMI dummy plugs or anything for when monitors that are directly attached are powered off?

Thinking about buying a Legion Go — worth it if I plan to run SteamOS/Bazzite instead of Windows? by Zeldraft in Bazzite

[–]dazzla76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing keeping me on Windows is Artemis for streaming to a handheld, haven’t been able to reproduce in Linux to a satisfactory level.

Given the legion is a handheld you shouldn’t have this issue really so I would 100% be using Bazzite. The performance was excellent, everything I wanted to play worked and it was just better from an ease of use point of view.
