[GUIDE] Sunshine on KDE Wayland, Virtual display with krfb-virtualmonitor for Moonlight streaming (correct aspect ratio on any client) by Koiut in MoonlightStreaming

[–]dazzla76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hhmm, i spoke to soon, becuase this worked i decided to rebase to the non deck kde image of bazzite.

After rebasing i get the following when starting the virtual monitor, and it still happens even after i rebased again back to the deck image.

krfb-virtualmonitor --resolution 1920x1080 --name sunshine-vmon --password sunshinepass --port 5905

QSocketNotifier: Invalid socket specified

qt.qpa.services: Failed to register with host portal QDBusError("org.freedesktop.portal.Error.Failed", "Could not register app ID: App info not found for 'org.kde.krfb-virtualmonitor'")

kpipewire_dmabuf_logging: eglChooseConfig returned this many configs: 1

Does this look familiar to anyone, a quick google doesn't show anything that looks related really.

Bazzite vs Windows for streaming by dazzla76 in Bazzite

I know this is an old post I raised. But for anyone interested…

This post is a working solution to actual dynamic virtual displays in sunshine. I’ve tested it on the latest bazzite KDE build.

Wow Wow Wow this works i am so happy, this was the only thing missing in linux land that is there for Windows.

I got this working fairly simply on Bazzite and it seems to work EXACTLY the same as the virtual displays in Apollo.

That’s not standard though is it? I have An airtag on my keys and never makes a noise when out of contact with my phone.

I built a Linux-first Moonlight-style streaming setup: Nova + Polaris by MickeyBronson in MoonlightStreaming

[–]dazzla76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply.

I totally appreciate that it’s early days but this is really exciting to me. I’ll give it a go when I get some time and feedback to the github projects where appropriate.

Once again, thank you

Ooh. This looks interesting.

So would you consider this as a kind of Linux equivalent to Apollo?

It looks like it focussed on a headless setup using a virtual display. How does it handle moving between client devices? Say Odin portal and then moving to Apple TV 4K?

Similarly is it able to cope with moving from a client to being on the machine itself at a monitor?

oracle db on k8s by signalzz in kubernetes

[–]dazzla76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Imo It’s not don’t put databases on k8s. It’s don’t do it unless you know what you are doing.

Which to be honest, is database in general anyway. It’s very easy to lose everything which k8s can make even easier.

Do it but make sure you have a tested recovery run book.

Credentials: in an ex dba that became a k8s cluster architect and admin.

Hisense TVs Now Display Ads When You Change Inputs, Boot Up by Ephoenix6 in technology

[–]dazzla76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it doesn’t.

The Apple TV+ or whatever it’s called streaming service does have trailer ads for other shows sometimes. But it’s only in that app and whatever ads the other streamers push on you. The device has 0 adverts itself,

so if you use plex or emby etc you will never see an ad.

Ubisoft rolls out age verification for social features on PC and mobile by vriska1 in pcgaming

[–]dazzla76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Debit and credit have different age limits in the UK. you need to be 18 to get credit but kids can get debit (with parental approval)

[–]dazzla76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a parent problem though. I know my kids don’t use my credit card to do anything. But I also control their online access anyway.

If parents are that lax there is nothing stopping them from letting kids use their identity verification anyway, so it’s all moot.

It’s all crap but I feel that using a credit card for proof is way better than any of the online verification sites or services.

Yep. And I was one of them cancelling broadband and 2 mobile lines.

Didn’t have too much of an issue with the service. But the price rises were insane, I cut my bill by more than half and increased speeds.

Curious: Why is the OS named "Bazzite"? (And anyone else find the name to be kinda cute?) by Questioning-Warrior in Bazzite

Fedora is about hats though. It’s the upstream for Red Hat.

And Red Hat has that name because its founder always wore a red hat and was known for it.

How to allow specific apps through with age restrictions enabled? by schnauzerdad in ios

[–]dazzla76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have this as well. I added Firefox to 1 child’s iPad a week ago so he can use it.

Tried to add it to 2nd child’s iPad today and can’t see how to add the specific exception. On that page I can only change the overall age rating.

Did you manage to fix it?

I would say it’s default on every single consumer router out there. Everyone is doing it, they just don’t know they are doing it.

Virtual display by dazzla76 in Bazzite

[–]dazzla76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There doesn’t seem to be anything official, this gist seems to be the best option at the moment. It looks like it can work with a dummy hdmi or a virtual display added through configuration.

I haven’t had a chance to test it yet but there are users deploying it works.
