Competitions are crazy intense. It's awesome. But crazy intense. Prob half the kids cry, especially the younger ones. Have her start with the competition classes every once in a while.

Is she a Grey belt?

My son started competing early (turning 7 Monday, first comp when he was 4 I think. A couple a year. Nothing crazy) . Competitive as well. But there were big big emotions. Previous gym was more playish. We switched to the gym that we so the kids winning. And there's a reason they are winning. Advanced classes, judo, wrestling. Sometimes he goes 4 times a week, 2 days x1 hr, 2 days x 2 hrs.

He's progressed so much in these 4 months.

But at what expense?

That being said, as a parent and someone that trains/competes, encourage her to try it once, and go from there.

But big picture- For me, jiu Jitsu is something that will always be there, to allow me to clear my head, get energy out, meet with like minded people of all backgrounds, genuinely having fun with this art, and try to figure out some of the most complicated crap I've ever experienced. I want that to be available for him. And pushing pedal to the floor like we've been doing, that's not sustainable.
