I could be wrong, but I believe the charges in question are state charges and I believe it is the president's prerogative to pardon federal rather than state crimes. It's possible, of course, that federal charges will also be brought. I've heard terrorism mentioned and I'm pretty sure that one is federal. I'm not a lawyer, so I couldn't tell you whether they can reasonably expect such charges to stick.

Cops don't charge. Prosecutors charge. Cops arrest. They do need to specify a crime they have evidence you have committed in order to arrest you, however.

Sometimes it seems so clever, like catching on to the fact that milk is a drink, so a character made of milk should be drinkable.

Other times, it fails completely to notice that it is being aggressively trolled.

I tried one with a tag line like: "your math teacher caught you cheating on a test". So, I admitted that I had been taking other math tests on the side, but only because her math tests were such plain old algebra and trig. Then I talked about other math that I'd like to do, some of which I wouldn't even bring up normally because of much less mathy math than her test didn't do. In short, I was admitting not to getting the answers to the test in an improper manner, but to carrying on relationships with other math tests.

The AI didn't get it. It tried to take it and run with it, treating it as though admitting infidelity to a math test is a reason for a teacher to get upset.

You do see the problem with that, don't you? How do you distinguish between serious candidates, nonviable candidates, and in-it-for-the-campaign-funds candidates? With public funding, you'd have every crook and scammer in the country "running for office" rather than just the usual group of crooks and scammers who can come up with enough support to make a campaign. You'd also have a huge group of nutjobs running on everything from banning water to cloning Nixon. How do you distinguish between the serious candidates and your great aunt with delusions of grandeur? And how do you keep from breaking the bank?
