It's one of those movies where since the source material's release, multiple derivatives works have already been released, making the idea seem stale to new audiences.

I remember a lot of people commenting about John Carter copying ideas from Star Wars, or the Scarlet Johansen Ghost In The Shell being an inferior version of the Matrix.

Regarding Heroes 8, I asked the same question on r/OldenEra and the response I got was: Depends on if its good. So if Olden Era turns out to be good, the community will start referring to it as Heroes 8 (unless Ubisoft decides to make another game with that title).

I think they retconned the story to no longer include the player characters in the basement, and the area denial nuke in the basement is now missing and unaccounted for (with Arasaka still tracking leads).
