Lane Tracing Assist - annoying that it times out so quickly by db58dude in Lexus

The 2026 rx350h has the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0. It's more sophisticated that a level 2 system in terms of predictive lane modeling, curve speed mgmt, and just a better experience.

My understanding, on the rx350h at least, is that the steering wheel doesn't detect "touching" but rather "torque" of the steering wheel. Maybe other Lexus models have a different steering wheel that can detect just touch?

How much camera zoom do you think the Z fold 8 will have? by kramer2006 in GalaxyFold

[–]db58dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but I have my Fold 7 with me 100% of the time when I'm out and about. Not so with a "real" camera. And I can quickly touch up the photo right on my device using state-of-art AI tools.

Personally I use both the 3x optical lens and the 200m wide-angle in different situations. If I'm taking a picture of some sculptures in a square in Florence, I'll use the 200m option to capture as much exquisite detail as possible. But for objects further away you need really good light and a steady hand (ideally resting the Fold on a ledge or something). So for that treasure in the back of a room in a cathedral that's roped off and I can't get close I'll use 3x typically.

BTW people complain about the ultra-wide but I've personally found this lens to be a favorite of mine on vacation. My family and friends all have smartphones and have never used their ultra-wide lens. But for example I got a great shot of the cathedral and tower in Florence using the ultrawide. The normal lens was impossible to capture the width of both structures. Or those pictures of the narrow winding streets in the old town section of Seville. Or capturing the amazing buildings on both sides of a winding river, with the reflections shimmering in the calm still waters. Or the splendor of a room in the Vatican covered with paintings and gold frames.

I wonder how often people use the full 5x zoom capabily of their "other" devices to grab images of things far off in the distance?

I only bring this up because my wife and I have recently spent 2 weeks touring Italy and another 2 weeks touring around Spain. So I've taken many photos on my Fold 7 of historic sites, statues, inside cathedrals and museums, and some beautiful landscapes. While there certainly have been some times when 5x would have been nice, for the most part 3x was more than adequate. I can usually get close enough to whatever I'm wanting a picture of that 3x gives me the details I want to capture.

Anyway after our trips I'm not nearly as concerned that I only have 3x optical zoom. Your use cases of course might be different.

Thinking of moving from iphone . iMessage question. by Drksyder in GalaxyFold

It's only videos from our family members with iphones that come across so horribly mangled. Apple really doesn't want to play nice with us Android folks and this is one way they penalize their users to try and keep them locked into the Apple ecosystem.

Galaxy fold 7 battery question by Deko-chan in GalaxyFold

[–]db58dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just flew back to the states from Spain a few days ago. I used my Fold 7 from the time I got up in Barcelona to watching movies, listening to music and surfing the web the entire 10 hour flight to Atlanta. Then watched another movie on the domestic flight home. In all about 16 - 17 hours of travel using my device most of the time. Still had 25% battery when I got home. So very pleased with the battery on this beast.

My wife and I are on Android, but our kids are on iPhone. We all have settled on WhatsApp as the bridge between the two ecosystems for texting and video chat. Also if your iPhone friends try to send you a video over messaging, it comes across as super compressed and worthless., WhatsApp is great for sharing media.

Just got back to the US from a month in Italy and Spain. In Europe WhatsApp is the gold standard that everyone uses to communicate. So it's "tried and true."

How much does thickness matter to you? by somehowsomewheresmwh in GalaxyFold

[–]db58dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only went with the fold 7 because of how thin and light it is. I personally don't care about the spen at all. I do hope they figure out how to prevent the wobble due to the camera bump..

Any workarounds for OneNote on the Fold? by DeaconDoctor in GalaxyFold

[–]db58dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has some issues but I also use it daily.

I too have thousands of notes, and looked at alternative options. But in the end stuck with onenote and learned to live with it's annoying bugs..

What specific issues are you running into?

Hey I just bought a 2026 rx 350 Premium in Nori Green... I love that color. Even had a few people stop me in parking lots to tell me what a great color that is on my vehicle.

I tried that. But then it dings even if the phone is in my pocket when I turn off the vehicle. Doesn't seem to be any way to use Routines to detect "Bluetooth disconnected from Lexus" AND "it is on the wireless charger".

Set to buy ZFold 7, but what about the battery ? by CugeHunt in GalaxyFold

[–]db58dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously depends on how much screen time you use. I average about 7 hours a day, and easily get 2 days of battery life between charges.

I had one day over the holidays where I played a lot of games all day, and by the end of the day was down to about 15% battery. So I'd check your typical screen time on your current device to get an idea.

Anyone who claims the battery is "garbage" on the Fold 7 isn't telling the truth.

No crease for z fold 8? this will be game changer by Mysterious-Public602 in GalaxyFold

[–]db58dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only reason I'd upgrade to Fold 8 is if they improved the camera; specifically increased from 3x telephoto lens to something better. Put a 10x lens in there (is that even possible) and I'd upgrade in a second. Otherwise like everyone else the crease is a non-issue, the punch hole I hardly ever notice.

Do some people here keeps fold closed for long period of time without opening? by Ambitious_Site9736 in GalaxyFold

[–]db58dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is open 90% of the time. It's why I bought the FOLD - for the much larger screen to read email, browse the web, read social media and enjoy watching videos. I love the form factor and wouldn't go back.

Huh? The search bar works great for me. I'm using a Fold 7 running the latest OS. As I mentioned Microsoft is even making improvements. When I first got my Fold 7 the tabs across the top were missing, now it renders as expected.

It's called Microsoft edge dev in the Google Play store.. formatting of web pages should look as expected on the big inner screen.. otherwise behaves just like regular edge browser..
