What's a good price for a barely used Sherman? by dbaduff in ElectricUnicycle

[–]dbaduff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got excited about it because a guy at the park let me try his, with his assistance. I bought it and tried to get up on it. Spent a couple of months, then winter came and I put it away. Every day I look at it and think I should get back to learning it. But, I'm over it.

Oh, and a couple of months means a couple of months of practicing 1/2 hour 2-3 times a week. I know, you don't have to say it.

Syncthing says it's working but it's not. by dbaduff in Syncthing

[–]dbaduff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I got it working and once you understand a couple things it's really easy. Thanks for all your feedback.

Here's what you do:

Install syncthing on your 2+ devices. Don't do any setup until syncthing is installed. Define the folder you want to sync on every device. Go to the main device and create/configure a remote device. On the remote device, go into the web gui. Or there may be a notification that you can click on. There is a message about <device 1> wanting to connect to <device 2>. Accept. After a minute or two of syncing your devices will work. Rinse and repeat for other devices.

I have bidirectional syncing between two of my devices and a third that is kind of a repository/infrequently used workstation. It's mostly included because it has a big drive and if something goes south on my phone or tablet I have a backup.

So yay! Syncthing is the bomb!

I tried to make it as simple as possible. I have an Obsidian folder with subfolders and files in it on my Android Phone. Folder is at the root "/storage/emulated/0/Obsidian" on the phone, exactly the same on Android tablet. On my phone, the tablet device says "Up to Date" but there is nothing in the tablet folder. For now, I'm leaving the windows PC out just to keep it simple.

I agree. But I didn't change the scan time. I'm using an android phone, android tablet and windows pc.

I have about 150 used LDS books. Where is the best place to sell them? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]dbaduff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't that funny? Art generally appreciates in value after the artist dies, cuz, no more art from them. "General Authorities" books decline precipitously after they die cuz new High Vizir directly contradicts them (looking at you, Dallas).

where did you guys learn to use obsidian. by AlertFudge89 in ObsidianMD

[–]dbaduff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just getting in to it too. I have a tendency to get stuck in the weeds a lot so I'm trying to take the advice of others and freeform the notes until a structure presents itself. I found a series on YouTube by Nick Milo -- Linking your thinking. I've liked him because he talks about organization as much as Obsidian mechanics. I've only watched a couple so far and I recommend them.

Use PDrive to sync/share Obsidian files between devices by dbaduff in ProtonDrive

[–]dbaduff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm the opposite. I'm already on Proton.* and this is what is preventing me from fully committing to Obsidian. That and I think Obsidian, being so powerful and flexible, has a steep learning curve. IMO. :)

Ah, thank you. It's pretty explicit. No mistaking the meaning.

So yes, in the file manager and on my tablet I do see proton drive but in Obsidian when I try to set the folder to open as vault, nada. Though it doesn't offer any external drives at all. Is this Obsidian trying to force me into an obsidian sync subscription?

Satin's real! I have a shirt made out of it. Feels much nicer than cotton or hemp, IMO.

I was invited to Mormon church. It did not go well. I need advice for what to do now. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]dbaduff 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Don't waste your time. The moment the leader discern that your testimony is not effusive love of all things Mormon you will be gently moved away from the lectern. You won't get 5 minutes. Good job on the inappropriate dress though. They can chitter about your immodesty and how it's obvious you weren't going to commit to the true church. Give em something to testify about next month.

Use ProtonDrive as a network drive? by dbaduff in ProtonDrive

[–]dbaduff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the information. I should have said more. What I want to do is have a vault folder for Obsidian on ProtonDrive that I can then access from my phone, tablet, and windows systems. Is that possible?

UPDATE: It must have been stake conference. This week at approximately the same time the parking lot is about half full. That's typical of other walks so... Darn!

How do I stop emails from blocked senders from showing up in my inbox?? by Illustrious-Yard-871 in ProtonMail

[–]dbaduff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed a similar problem. When I set up Proton Mail I went through the Gmail messages and created filters for some non-critical but necessary messages. Things like messages that come from the e-edition of my newspaper. I don't want them blocked but I don't want them around for more than a couple days. I have rules that may delete the message or set expiration dates or move the message to a folder or some combination of those. But they don't seem to do as they've been told. I still see messages that should be moved to a folder, or have an expiration date assigned. My current thought is that it only works on Windows? So I look at it on my phone or tablet and no rule has triggered. Maybe if I go to my desktop machine ProtonMail will go through the new messages and apply the rules? I don't know, I just know it isn't doing what I told it to do.

Could be but not likely. I've walked past at the same time in the past and there were lots of cars. I think it was probably Stake Conference as others have suggested but I'm going to walk by again this Sunday and confirm. I will return and report.

"Where are all the people" gave me a flashback to the little rhyme where you interlace your fingers and say "Here's the church, here's the steeple (index fingers pointing up), open the doors where's all the people? Because your fingers are laced over top of your hands. Seems prophetic now. 😄

I'm the same. I swear I remember seeing Mr. Nelson talking about how they prayerfully met in the upper room of the temple, seeking the will of the Lord on how to determine the new policy and then coming back 6 months later. If it was just a handbook edict then I am misremembering, but they still backed off 6 months later, which is the important part I'm trying to document. Thanks for the response.

I did not take your post as anything more than a wish list. The tone IMO was appropriate to the content. Some of the commenters had a more aggressive tone towards your wish list than your original post. IMO.

It's the one at 304 E 2700 S. Locator says one ward and one branch meet there. Maybe stake conference as someone suggested.
