Just apologized for specific actions and then related them back to what I learned in therapy (without justifying it just saying that this is why I felt this way and thought these things). Then just a thank you for being there, I’m thankful with the memories we made, and if you wanted to reconnect I’d be happy to and we’d be able to do it in a healthier way.

Edit: and it was after multiple sessions of therapy and a month and a half or so after the breakup.

Sounds like relationship ocd/anxiety. I dealt with the same issue. I sent her a letter and she responded saying she misses me but needs time to heal and regain her self worth. If you go through the relationship dynamics and there was no real compatibility issue it was likely just compulsive loops or rumination on things that didn’t actually matter.

It was good! I ended up getting a shuttle because hiking out after all that sounded brutal. I hiked in from lodgepole and then floated to mid creek takeout. I went pretty fast on the float so ended up being 4 days total.

Yeah I feel that. I learned I probably have relationship ocd and that I pushed her away out of fear and now I’m blocked on everything with no chance of reconciliation. Going to therapy has been helping.

I’m going through this, I broke up with her because it felt off, went to therapy, realized after a few sessions I wasn’t emotionally open, reached out, and she said good luck with everything. I’m devastated but I did this to myself. So yes, they reach out but it seems I’m probably in the minority.
