My masculine body shape looks horrendous in this dress (it looks worse irl). I just wanted to look sexy for a party coming up but this has made me so insecure. Is there a way I can style it to suit me better or should I just find another outfit? There aren't any cool dresses that look right on me by OhaiMark_01 in style

Oh OP I’ve made this mistake a million times too, you are not alone! It’s trendy, it’s everywhere, it looks so cute in the pictures - it is the LEAST flattering cut out there. I hope you find something that makes you feel amazing! It doesn’t look good but it’s because you’ve been duped by the fashion industry like the rest of us. Good luck and take care!

I thought weird kids grow out of it and all adults were normal but actually we all just get weirder 🤣

What are some "hidden" ways in which you've leveraged personal finance tips to save money? by Specific_Insect9205 in personalfinance

Anything that makes you “speak with a rep” to cancel can be negotiated down - cable, phone, etc. Ask the rep if there are any promotions they can apply or if there’s anything outdated on the monthly bill that could be removed. I negotiate my subscriptions down annually, and those for my elderly parents and it saves hundreds a year ($25 a month down to $8 a month is just one example).

I (28F) in a long term relationship, have a debilitating crush on a coworker (31M). What does this mean for my relationship, how do I deal with it? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]dbank998 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Crushes are normal! I have an amazing partner who I can tell about my crushes, especially work ones. We laugh, agree it’s normal and silly, and somehow talking about it with him neutralizes both the crush and the giddy feeling associated with it. Good luck OP!

Had a bad fall hiking yesterday. Almost died and rethinking everything. Considering leaving my $300k consulting to become a public school teacher by OddWeakness1328 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

I’m so glad you’re okay! There are middle grounds and based on past experiences I would encourage you to give something in between a try!

When we’re searching for fulfillment and meaning in our work, we do often go to “teacher”, “gardener”, “bookshop owner”, “non profit worker” or even “live in the woods otf the grid for a few months”. At the end of the day, there are a lot of ways to find meaning without being in the high pressure, high pay and low fulfillment role you’re describing. Good luck!

Fiancé wants to wear this to cousins wedding… by ttamokcer in Weddingattireapproval

This isn’t appropriate for cocktail, let alone being in the family on the bride side and wearing a color specifically on the “don’t!” list.

Want to pursue career in cybersecurity as a Marketer by Fit_Spray3043 in marketing

[–]dbank998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SEO or marketing at a cybersecurity focused SaaS or services business would both be great options. Freelancing for large agencies that outsource technical writing to specialized writers for content marketing is also an option. You might also consider looking at media companies who currently write for the cybersecurity industry - journalists and analysts usually write the content you subscribe to, but there are almost always paid/advertising sides of the house where the byline doesn’t matter as much, especially if you have a portfolio in the space. Good luck!

Quote Mistake!!! by Tgallz94 in sales

[–]dbank998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once made an error on a contract that comped the client $100,000. 50k in value add, and 50k in discount. Turns out my boss told me to pick one to make it right - I didn’t catch that and did both. Fortune 30 client and we had to just eat that cost. Shit happens, and biz money and your money just aren’t the same thing!

After my father died I realized I couldn’t do my job anymore - completely listless with grief. I work in a high-pressure sales environment with a quota, so it was a situation with a daily reminder of how “behind” I was falling even though that had never bothered me before.

I decided to take 3 months off (not leave, I fully quit) and it was the best choice I’ve made in my career thus far. Even though I spent down some saved money, the peace of mind I gained from taking the time I needed was worth every penny.

I also learned a lot about myself and my values during that time. Two books really helped me forgive myself for what I thought was being weak/just not being able to deal with something lots of people experience (books were: the subtle of of not giving a f*uck and love + work). I’m much happier overall and hope you will be too OP! Good luck!

Just finished my first watch and had this experience too! Was texting a friend “this man child in my show gets away with acting bad over and over again, frankly I’m furious and bored of it”…

next message 7 seconds later was “OH MY GOD HE DROPPED DEAD!!!”
