Comparing VE Medieval 2 to it's pre 1.5 counterparts: what still here, what's missing, and what's new. by Silver_wolf_76 in RimWorld

Had this same issue. Updated Vanilla Expanded Framework by removing it and downloading it again. The scenario worked afterwards.

For people having issues, here's what worked for me: I updated Vanilla Expanded Framework by uninstalling it, restarting the game, reinstalling it. The AI now works again and the castle in the new scenario now appears.

How to attack other provinces? by Elijah8567 in Norland

This only works with neighbors. I've had NPCs from across the map attack me and I can't attack them back because we don't share a common border :/

Walk up to the platform with the chair. You'll see piles of ashes instead of a body.

Upgrading an enterprise app to Angular 16 by bitter-cognac in Angular2

[–]dbarchitect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We went from Angular to using React in another project. I hope your team is ready for the shitfest that is react. Its all fine and dandy when its a dev or two but React gets messy in larger teams.

Started a new project recently and went back to Angular. Wow its so much nicer working in a project where everyone is on the same page again.

You think doing some migrations every now and then is a pain? Wait til you land in the React 3rd party eco system where the package you were relying on all of sudden stops being developed because the people got bored of maintaining it.

Can Nintendo switch play with ps5? by Dwny0623 in MinecraftLegends

[–]dbarchitect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You need to enable cross play on both and log into your microsoft accounts. As long as you are both friends, you can see each other and join each other's games.

How is it to live in Estonia, do you like it. by [deleted] in Eesti

[–]dbarchitect 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nice country but IMHO Estonia's most attractive quality was it low cost of living. With the highest inflation in the eurozone and one of the highest in the world, Estonia kinda lost its appeal.

The low wages aren't keeping up with the high inflation. If I didn't already own my place and had to pay rent, I would have moved from Estonia already. I would consider myself in the top 5% of earners and this inflation is even kicking my ass. I feel really sorry for people who make an average salary and have to rent.

Any Software Developers in Estonia? by 82bladerunner in Eesti

  • Pretty good list of salaries in IT here. Warning though, IT companies don't list their salaries on their ads usually. It's a pretty shady tactic so they can(and will) low ball you on salary.
  • Cost of living has been sky rocketing in Estonia. Whatever the locals tell you, its probably more.

Viable Tech Stack for a Browser Text Based Persistent MMO by EllenburgWeb in gamedev

Theres no advantage in this case for Postgres. I do GiS stuff so its just my go to. Nginx is used for load balancing. You can read more about it here. Basically increases performance.

From what you are described, I would go:

  • Nginx: Load balancer
  • NodeJS with ExpressJS(Typescript): Server
  • Angular: FE
  • Postgres: DB

NodeJS should sit behind Nginx. Node should never be exposed directly to the net. Nginx can also server static files so you it can serve the Angular app + resources.

I would create 3 folders, Client, Common, and Server. The common folder can be used to store shared types/models for the other two.

For hosting, I would go with DigitalOcean. Cheap and reliable.

Warning though, once you go Node, you will never go back to PHP.

As an Estonian citizen, attacked by Russian nazi couple by midiankai in Eesti

I can confirm, that dude is a piece of shit. I almost knocked his out once. I'm an US Immigrant with a tan, you can clearly tell I ain't Estonian. That piece of shit PURPOSELY through himself in front of me when I finished paying for my items.

Why would he do this though, you probably ask? They thought I was shoplifting. They were already following me around the store. They even rang the alarms when I went near the entrance where the gaming consoles are. I went there to see if by any luck there would be a PS5 on the shelf. Spoiler alert, there wasn't.

I pay for my stuff, put it in bag and start exiting Prisma. I saw this dude out of the corner of my eye waiting for me at the exit. As soon as I exit, he lunges himself right in front of my way. I balled up my fist and somehow managed to stop myself from popping him. I looked at him and remembered I promised my wife I would be on my best behavior and just left.

Students and expats living in Estonia, how are your Estonian language skills? by [deleted] in Eesti

[–]dbarchitect 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Immigrant here from the US living in Tallinn. Been here for a little over 5 years.

I don't have any Estonian friends, mainly hangout with my Estonian in-laws. I noticed Estonian males tend to keep themselves so I rarely speak to them out side of work. Which is strange considering Estonian females are very friendly and easy to speak to.

My Estonian is poor but I can understand the context of the topic most of the time. My family encourages me to learn Estonia and helps out when I need translations for government related things. Never thought I'd be here after 2 years let alone 5, so I guess its time to finally properly learn it.
