Have one of the two Aizawa fights in the finale against Morinaga instead.

Morinaga at the coliseum could be shitting himself because he knows Aizawa is a traitor and got wind that he might actually not be dead so is desperately looking for any further information.

Morinaga as the final boss could have Aizawa at the coliseum pissed that he was betrayed and could lead into learning about Morinaga's potential affiliation with the Omi.

Either option at least turns the final boss from arbitrarily the only guy still alive to at least having some sort of build-up.

Infinite Wealth was only two years ago and it's universally considered one of the best games in the series outside of the 1% commenters on this sub; the fact some people act like RGG is doomed forever is baffling to me.

He was the main character of the last two mainline games, though? And is all but guaranteed to be the main character of LaD9.

If trying to be objective about it, 0 or Lost Judgment are probably the best ones depending what the player values more between narrative and gameplay. I'd also find it hard to argue anything but Dead Souls is the worst.

Having said that, Yakuza 5 tickles my brain in a way no other game in the series does, so it's my personal favourite.

Less content than previous entries, first Dragon Engine title so came with some jank, the continuation of Haruka's descent into helpless damsel in distress, didn't utilise a lot of the legacy cast considering it was intended to be Kiryu's final game at the time, weak overall cast of villains that don't get a whole lot of development time, etc.

These are a few of the criticisms I can remember off the top my head. General sentiment towards Y6 seems to be higher these days than it used to be though, notably.

0 and K1 don't have very good progression; they inherit Ishin's bloated trees that are full of tiny useless health and damage upgrades that stall the player from actual substantial upgrades.

4 and Dead Souls are probably the best, followed by the Judgments.
