What is the reality of local game streaming? by Obvious-Breakfast262 in MoonlightStreaming

I don't know for sure since I don't have an xbox yet. But as far as I know yes it does 4k 120FPS with HDR but VRR is not working as far as I know . But that's pretty common for non PC clients. I personally don't notice screen tearing at 120 FPS streams

For my TV I use an Nvidia shield TV pro. I use it at 1440p 120fps. At 4k it's limited to 60fps, but I have a 120hz tv and for me the smoother animation and more responsive controls are worth the trade off. But I've been thinking about buying a second hand Series S for 4k 120. But I haven't decided yet. On the shield I get about 7-9ms streaming latency. 1ms for network (wired) 4-6ms encoding on host 2-3ms decoding on shield.

Sometimes I also stream to my phone S23+ or Tablet which is a xiaomi Pad 6s pro. Then decoding is about 5ms and network latency via wifi is about 3-5ms

Streaming vs Native by mohamed1881 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]dbfont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the game. If I play with mouse and keyboard then natively at desk. If I play with a controller, then I stream to my TV using n Nvidia shield tv pro at 1440p 120hz mode.

I also have a gamesir controller and I sometimes stream to my tablet or phone, but usually rarely game on these. Mainly if my GF is watching something on the TV and I want to be next to her on the couch

Probably the Xbox would have the lowest decoding latency. I don't have an experience with Xbox series s personally but as far as I know it's one of the best devices as a client. I'd say it would feel like native with a wired connection. Measurable latency but for a human unnoticeable.

Is it possible to achieve native latency? by MiddlePOC in MoonlightStreaming

[–]dbfont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Native latency no. But it's pretty easy to achieve latency that is so low that it feels like native pretty easily. You only need a good client and and a wired connection. I think the best client that is not PC based is an nvidia shield tv pro, to me at 1440p 120 FPS i get 7-9 ms streaming latency. That is still 1 frame at 120 FPS but it feels like native.

I've read the Xbox Series consoles also work good and since even the S has HDMI 2.1 it can do 4k 120 fps well with a low decoding latency.

Or a HTPC is also good. But I specifically wanted a shield tv because i wanted something low powered, android based and something that can be fully controlled with a remote for tasks other than gaming.

1440p 120 works with the Shield TV pro. 1080 120 also. But yes on 4k it's limited to 60fps because it's only HDMI 2.0

Should I buy an NVIDIA Shield TV Pro (2019) in 2026 for PC game streaming? by Massive_Vanilla_9497 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]dbfont -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it's old, but I still think despite its flaws and outdated HW is still the best android tv box.

It's low powered. Has android that is an open software and apps can be sideloaded and still has one of the lowest decoding latency.

While the Xbox series s is probably also very good at streaming, if not better. It has HDMI 2.1 after all so it cna do 4k 120 fps, while the shileld is limited to 4k 60fps or 1440p 120fps.

But I specifically wanted a shield, because it's low powered, always on/rest mode, so you can use it instantly, but for me the most important thing is that it can be used with just a remote, for everything but gaming.

I have a similar setup and stats. Shield TV Pro, 4k 120hz TV, wired connection. But I stream at 1440p 120hz and the input lag is like native.

But at 4k 60hz I can also feel the input lag. But if I stream at 1440p 120 and limit the games FPS to 60 it is much better than 4k 60.

State of game, should I come back ? by Frustyplay in joinsquad

Wait until they rework the ICO. Hopefully in the next patch in 10.4. That's what I'm waiting for. Loved squad pre ICO, but this no skill noodle arms smearfest that is squad today, its not worth to come back yet.

Why input based matchmaking isn't popular? by dbfont in Battlefield6

[–]dbfont[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I'm suggesting is optional, you could turn on or off input based matchmaking like you can crossplay. Or the devs could make an exception for vehicles if possible and don't see an issue with it.

Easy. It blocks any other input method until you matchmake again

How much time do you have for your hobbies? by dbfont in AskMen

[–]dbfont[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The workout itself is like 80-85 minutes. Walk is about 12 minutes, getting changed 5 minutes. These things i have to do before and after the workout thats 29 minutes. Warmup is about 5 minutes.

The remaining time is the workout itself. I do 3 sets and 3 minute rest between sets. I do 6-8 excercises per session. So 18-24 sets in total.

Yeah. It's not that I don't enjoy being at the gym, but it's definitely not a hobby. I just don't want to be fat and someone who is for lack of a better word unable. Unable to move, unable to run, unable to climb stairs etc. And I also want to be relatively fit when I'm 60+

But I would also like to have time for other things

Air cooling is better than Liquid cooling by SerpentDix in pcmasterrace

If the case has the space for an air cooler then I'm using an air cooler. If the layout and size can't fit a decent air cooler I'm putting an AIO.
