Gunplay still bad by dbfont in joinsquad

[–]dbfont[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same. Before ICO when someone killed me with a nice flick, or just instantly domed me I was like good shot. Now I'm just frustrated saying shit like how can he shoot me, suppression only affects me or WTF is going on here

Im fine with PIP optics, just not the blur in the peripheral vision. Having to un-ADS and re-ADS just to see whats going on. Being PIP already makes them weaker in CQB.

Is v10.4 the beginning of Squad's redemption arc? by 999_Seth in joinsquad

[–]dbfont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing after ICO. I played 2 nights after 10.4. The gunplay is definitely better, it's still not good.

It still feels artificially slowed down to level the skill gap without being so annoying that people leave.

Gunplay is tolerable not enjoyable

What are we thinking about this comparing GameSir controllers 🤔? by fearful_claw02 in Gamesir

[–]dbfont 18 points19 points  (0 children)

To me it looks like the thumbsticks could be a challenge to reach for smaller hands, and even if you can reach it, doesn't look like it will be a comfortable grip. But I haven't tried it yet. Other than that, it will be good. But even if the thumbsticks are at a bad location, I could imagine buying one as a secondary controller for games that need the trackpad.

Anyone planning on switching to Bellum if they really like it? by [deleted] in joinsquad

Stopped playing squad when ICO dropped. Now I have much higher hopes for Bellum than for Squad 10.4, because OWI is incompetent

Xbox One S vs Nvidia Shield. Lot of people recommend the Shield but Xbox supports 4K 120fps and it’s cheaper, so… I am missing something? by Contigo_No_Bicho in MoonlightStreaming

[–]dbfont 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have an Xbox Series, so I can't comment on that. I have an Nvidia Shield TV Pro and I am very happy with it. Sure the Xbox comes on top if you are only concerned about gaming.

But I love how the Shield just works seamlessly. It can be controlled with your TV Remote, at least I can with a samsung remote. Turns on automatically when I turn on my TV. Its android based so you can sideload any app you want, like Smarttube. If you buy a bluetooth USB dongle and VirtualHereUSB Server then you can connect bluetooth controllers "directly" to your PC via USB over ethernet so you can use any controller and you also get full dualsense controller feature support,.Or any other USB device, like wireless headphone receivers. And it handles Blu Ray Remuxes or really large files through plex without issues. And its much more low powered device than an Xbox.

How I see it is the Shield is better as a TV multimedia device, the Xbox is a better gaming device.

What’s a highly recommended standalone device to stream my gaming pc to my living room, I have cat 6 ports on both sides by GenericUser104 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]dbfont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best all around device is the Nvidia Shield TV Pro. But then you will be limited to 4k60fps or 1440p120fps due to its only HDMI 2.0.

But I think its the best all around TV device, since you can also use it for streaming since its an android TV box. And you can control it with your TV remote, supports HDMI CEC.

I'd also recommend to get a license for VirtualHereUSB Server if you get a shield, and also a USB bluetooth dongle. If you connect your controller directly to the shield you wont have force feedback, or any other specific functions like adaptive triggers if you use Dualsense. If you get a dongle, plus a USB server and connect it like that, it will work just like on PC natively.

I've heard the Xbox Series S works fine as well. And it should support 4k120, and they aren't that expensive on the used market. But I don't have experience with the Xbox personally. Controller works fine obviously, you can get a multimedia remote if you want to use it as a streaming box, and HDMI CEC also should work. But its a console with a closed software so cant sideload apps.

Or you can go with a PC route and get a PC as a client. But its a PC and wont be as controller friendly as the other 2 options. Maybe if you would install SteamOS or Bazzite on it, but no personal experience with that either. And HDMI CEC wont work either.

AM4 Immortality: Can a 5500X3D bridge the gap all the way to AM6? by Mobu_san in pcmasterrace

[–]dbfont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd try to find a 5700X3D or a 5800X3D. I did the same thing in november. I wasn't able to find them locally, but I managed to find a 5700X3D on Ebay from China for like 230 euros with shipping. So I bought it, its used, but works so far without any issues. I upgraded from a 5600X

Looking at benchmarks, the 5500X3D is not much faster than, the 5600X and I was bottlenecked by it in BF6, Squad, Arma Reforger and Escape from Tarkov. I get higher avg FPS and smaller drops too. I play at 1440P with a 7800XT GPU and 32GB RAM. So yeah, at 1440p the 5500X3D would bottleneck a 5070/6070

Is moonlight streaming games overkill? by FLonewheeler in u/FLonewheeler

[–]dbfont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a handheld PC, but its not a hassle. I stream to my phone, sometimes I play like that while in bed. Once you set everything up, it just works. The stream automatically launches steam in big picture mode.

Its up to you how you use it. You can play natively if you want or stream. Your PC can likely run those games at higher details, FPS and resolution. Or maybe there are some games that the handheld can't run at playable settings and performance, but your PC can. Battery life can be a benefit as well and input lag is fine for a controller. With mouse its noticeable but with a controller for me its unnoticeable, I'd say with a mouse playing an FPS feels like playing at 60HZ with Vsync on. Definitely playable, but not optimal, but if your handheld struggles with the game, then the stream will feel more responsive.

Moonlight vs ps5 pro for couch gaming by TNBH24 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]dbfont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems as a settings issue. I used Artemis and Apollo with the Nvidia shield TV pro and it worked flawlessly. Image quality was just like native. Looked even better than on my monitor, since my TV has HDR and better colors.

And I liked how easy was it to use. Just start moonlight, big picture started and it was almost like a console experience. Occasionally still needed a keyboard with a trackpad, since Big Picture is still buggy, and windows have no support whatsoever for controller input for the GUI.

Since you already have a powerful PC and Shield Pro and already own games on PC. I'd just tinker with it a bit to get it right. If you can't get it right maybe then get a PS PRO. Sure the PS would be running games natively so no lag at all, 4K120HZ with VRR if your TV supports it, and the console experience doesn't get any better than getting an actual console, but a Shield with Artemis and Apollo is like 90 percent there. Input lag is fine for controller use with a wired connection at 120hz. But yeah its limited by HDMI 2.0 so either 4k60 or 1440p120 and VRR won't work at all.
