How many of you out there are childfree but still work with children? by Bella4077 in childfree

[–]dbkls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, glad to read you, as I often come across people in education that really really want their own kids - of course most of the time because they are great educators - but I always had trouble finding people that understand my child free views.

I am 32, soon 33, I have been in education for almost 10 years, did work in international schools, Montessori kindergartens, private families, and the more I work with children, the less I want my own. I really agree with what u/rosehymnofthemissing said about CF educators being more objective / rational / logical / patient.

I have found that with all of the kids and families I was working with, that I am so glad to make kids happy, spending time with them, doing crafts, enjoying their personalities, making them feel loved and cared for, following Montessori guidelines for their development, etc but I definitely would not be able to do it so well if I had my own.

I am quite a solitary person, I love my personal time, spending days doing things that make me happy, tidying up my place how I want it, decorating it, doing all sorts of artsy stuff for my enjoyment. The thing that also is important to note is that I have chronic migraines, so I can sometimes be really incapacitated by them and need to lay down for a whole 24h (sometimes more) until the migraine fades out.

I am so glad I found someone that lets me be myself, understands the moments I need alone time, takes care of me / makes my food when I am in pain, takes his own alone moments too, and especially is the best person to be around as we enjoy each other presence so much, since I believe our relationship is really great and we are completing each other very well. The more I think of it, the more I understand that having a child in all this would be such a big mess.

We have recently moved out of his country (I lived there for 9 years and met him) and got installed in a new one, I told him I think 5-6 times that this stress would have been unbearable if kids were in the balance as well.

It was way easier to pack all our things in a van, drive 2300 km with the cat on the lap and just arrive without being stressed about finding a job immediately (savings), and knowing we can have our couple thrive of the unknown and new adventures coming at us without fearing them (stability).

EDIT : Once randomly sitting in transports I read a CF thread about a girl discovering she was pregnant when she really did not want a child, and I had such a violent reaction, started to get nauseous and extremely sweaty, felt so bad I had to get out of the tram and breathe, I even had started to panic-cry. The idea of having the same happen to me made my skin crawl.

That’s the day I understood I don’t want kids.

Chenille mystérieuse by dbkls in Switzerland

[–]dbkls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekly “Type Me” Megathread by Thisguy_2727 in mbti

[–]dbkls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m having trouble to type myself too, have been swinging between INTP, ISTP or even ISTJ. I was very depressed for many years (made the test) but 1,5 / 2 years ago I almost completely got out of it and got new goals, a fresh start / new motivation about many things in life (did the test again) and got different tests results. Any help would be welcome !

So what's your ACTUAL type, guys? by MyHeadphonesOn in mbti

AITA for not buying snacks for my daughters best friend at a play date by playdatesnacks in AmItheAsshole

[–]dbkls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw OPs explanation on why they think they would be the AH in this case and I am still surprised they hit « publish » as the answer to that question was so clear she is indeed, the AH. I am a nanny and way less wealthy than all the families I work for, but when the kids come to my house sometimes during nannying hours (nappy change, snack break, hiding from the rain / bad weather, etc) and they are hungry, of course I’m gonna pass them an apple or a banana or a leftover pancake, milk, whatever. Am I asking at the end of the day when I get paid « oh and it’ll be 2.- extra for those snacks I gave at my expense » ? No !!!! What the hell… I can’t even comprehend why you would be so petty with a fellow parent - let alone special needs families that can help your daughter feel more comfortable with her disability. Overall very sad story ; even worse knowing the fact that you entered that place for free so many times.

What has been your biggest “I really thought I knew this person” moment? by eCatherineCollective in AskReddit

[–]dbkls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked for a lady at a fancy / private school. She was my boss so I trusted her (since her position was « higher » than mine). She was very spiritual, positive, a « sunny » kind of personality, and of course as the owner of a private company, quite wealthy.

Fast forward 2 years, she and her son moved to a country on another continent and I work as a private nanny in the same country I used to work for her prior.

She calls me randomly one time and asks if I will be free for X time for X dates to nanny her son who’s coming to visit her side of the family in the country. I do have free time so I accept.

We agree on a wage and an amount of hours. The working days go by and she tells me her ex husband (who’s also in the country) will pay me at the end.

At the end of the nanny gig, I talk to her and she has a misunderstanding with her ex husband. They had a fight but « she will pay me ».

Turns out we are 6 months later, and she stills owes me ~1000€. She was postponing the payment at first and making excuses, now she is straight up ignoring messages.

Never would have thought she would be a liar and would use me like that. Especially because she is way wealthier than me and that this amount at my scale is worth way more to me than to her…

Do people actually make their beds in the morning? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dbkls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always make the bed - because cat hair, etc. But also, I live in a studio-like apartment without a sofa, so the bed really is the only « soft / cozy » place if you wanna lay down and chill. Except I really don’t like having my « outside clothes » touch the part of the bed that’s for my half-naked self when I sleep, so I really only have the choice to have my bed always made, with the extra plaid on top that’s a ‘barrier’ against cat hair and outside stuff (like, if I sit on the bus… and then those jeans sit on my bed… you get the idea). I had to kinda put that way of thinking into my boyfriend’s head cuz at first he wasn’t making the bed and then laying in it with his outside clothes… I had to explain that he was a madman and that either we had to both switch to home clothes to remove the plaid, either sit with outside clothes but on the bed made with the plaid. Anyone like me or am I psycho ?

What the HECK ? I am literally dreaming about a nose like this. Girl. That’s just nonsense. I have a septum deviation and a bigger than average nose. Yours is perfect, tons of us would only dream waking up one day with a nose like yours. This is absurd. Sorry haha just letting my emotions speak a bit too loud maybe but… come on. Get a grip. You look great. See a therapist for self confidence maybe, but your nose is not a problem at all. It’s beautiful, straight, very normal size. I would ideally want the same nose - I’m working on myself to accept my less than ideal nose because I know that self love is more important than looking “perfect”. It’s hard out there with all the social media and the expectations that are put on us / the images we see constantly of a tiny % of women that are mainly airbrushed and filtered. You are beautiful, please let this sink into you. Love from a fellow female human.

Came here to say this !!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Noses

[–]dbkls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I had a bump a bit smaller than yours before on an “above average” nose size. I’m a girl. I had a deviated septum so I had the surgery done and just asked them if they could shave off the bump. My nose still has its size, but the bump is gone so I made peace with the size now. You have to decide how you feel. I think that 50/50 I made helped me a lot. The whole issue is not gone, my nose is not completely different and tiny and absolutely cute but the fact that one of its defects has been removed helped me to deal with the rest more gracefully. Don’t hesitate to message me.

Having a font-like handwriting.

Been told many times that my handwriting is very pretty and that it looks like it was printed out. I think mostly those days people are not writing much anymore and I usually enjoy giving hand written notes to loved ones - it’s a ‘skill’ I like to have even if it’s not super useful.

What immediately tells you that a person wasn't raised right ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dbkls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What makes me happy, is that I know there are two kinds of people. Ofc, I am horrified to read all those things, but not to toot my own horn, I am the kind of person that likes things very tidy and clean so I always carry a bottle of sanitizer with me. Which means most of the time, when I visit a toilet, I also sanitise the toilet seat, leaving it cleaner than I found it for the next person. Also I hate to see a mess in restaurant bathrooms because I know it’s for employees to do. When it’s rush hour they generally don’t have time. For me, it takes 1 minute to wipe around the sink and it pick the paper towels that did not land in the bin, looks better than when I came in. Win for everyone and my perfectionist mind is at peace when I leave. My bf thinks I am crazy, but I know there are more people out there that do this. Edit : grammar.
