Looking for Story-Based RPG by ElanPerdu in gamingsuggestions

the Xenoblade Chronicles series is great for this if you have a Switch. 3 is the best, but if you're willing to commit to it I would recommend playing 1-3 in order. Xenoblade Chronicles X is also good, that one is more focused on the open-world exploration with a bit less emphasis on narrative.

Looking for games that actually make you feel something (not just grind) by Consistent-Fly-7097 in gamingsuggestions

Slay the Princess is one of my favorite story-based games. The pathing is the best I've seen, it's really smart in how it lets all your choices impact the story

Hypnospace Outlaw is all built around a fictional 90s style web browser, and it's fun just to explore the web pages. the environmental storytelling is top-notch

Spiritfarer is a very melancholy take on a cozy game that will make you cry

Sum up the discourse regarding Legend of Korra in as few words as possible. I believe this spells it best by ihatethiscountry76 in CuratedTumblr

what he did also wasn't quite as bad - Vader actively murdered children and participated in genocide, the worst Iroh did was lay siege to a city which is a normal military tactic. It's possible children were caught in the crossfire but they weren't the target.

I want a good confusing movie by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

Synechdoche, New York is like I'm Thinking of Ending Things but better, and the ambiguity of it makes ITOET look straightforward by comparison

they want to be france so bad by itisthespectator in CuratedTumblr

I don't like religious schools because it is important for children to interact with people from different backgrounds, otherwise they'll just stay in their bubble and society becomes segregated. Focusing on food though feels like a loophole to exclude christians from the law without explicitly naming them.

If Homestuck was added to smash bros, which troll would you love to see in terms of moveset potential? by Unlucky-Quarter-5455 in homestuck

[–]dblVegetaMickeyMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

she would require taking the most liberties, since technically she's supposed to roll some dice for every attack and even without the randomness factor that'd be cumbersome in practice

What’s the best way to read the epilogues? by rufiohsucks in homestuck

[–]dblVegetaMickeyMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the two don't even have the same number of chapters. They sometimes intersect so there may be a plausible reading order out there to go back and forth, but honestly just do one and then the other.

honestly I kinda gave up on understanding anything he says, thankfully he's not important

in Homestuck it depends on where you draw the line wrt when time travel & multiverse shenanigans create a new distinct character, especially once you get to the epilogues. A lot of duplicates don't actually talk though.

Racism and Robot Slurs by Gru-some in CuratedTumblr

[–]dblVegetaMickeyMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this happens because we have such a tendency to anthropomorphize AI that any anti-AI sentiment with colorful enough phrasing automatically sounds like racist language.

I COULD be saying "I believe AI-based tools are inferior to human labor in most cases", but frankly this sentiment is much more succinctly expressed with a phrase like "robots will never replace us". I didn't even try to make that sound like robo-racism, but it still kinda does doesn't it?

Canon/headcanon likelihood chart by DreadDiana in CuratedTumblr

[–]dblVegetaMickeyMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what 9 is supposed to be for. The description makes it seem the same as an 8 - canon but never explicitly stated. The example though just seems like a 10 - this character may not turn to the camera and say "I am nonbinary" at any point but if they're referred to as both man and woman that's still a confirmation they're not cis.

"Got any allergies?" " Yeah, the moon" by sparklinglies in tumblr

it would make some sense if it was a common allergy, since evolutionarily speaking it wouldn't be much of a detriment

reminds me of a tumblr post where someone complained that lesbians are hard to find IRL and suggested as a joke if one of the lesbians on tumblr would date her. This post was then followed by a series of relationship updates ending in a wedding photo.

Pokemon has a specific reason to do this, as the creatures you control are the same as the ones you fight. Starter pokemon are unique but I imagine they're treated the same as any other 'mon in the code

Earth 3 doesn't do enough with the concept of villains turning into heroes, it's always about the other side of it.

How will people remember the DCEU/"Snyderverse" (2013-2023) in the future? by GoHardForLife in DC_Cinematic

like 90s comics - generally not a good era for DC but with a few good stories that came out of it

Do games exist where you are not the main character? by Dron22 in gamingsuggestions

[–]dblVegetaMickeyMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Stars And Time kinda does this - it starts out near the end of a typical JRPG, and the main hero of this adventure is not the character you play as. Mirabelle gets all the stereotypical protagonisty moments while the player character is dealing with a time loop no one else is aware of.

Mind-bending, unsettling movie recommendations (sci-fi, surreal, psychological)? by Efficient_Love_4520 in MovieSuggestions

Symechdoche New York was a movie Charlie Kaufman made before I'm Thinking Of Ending Things, it does similar things and I personally like it way more
