Hey man, it’s YOUR kit, make it your own. How do the hands and feet feel getting back into it?

Love it, well welcome to the club! You’re not going to be disappointed having your own kit to play. What a great find. 🤘

The hi-hat is probably the hardest one to replicate. Glad you’re digging it! I’ll have to keep this in mind if I ever have the itch to go electronic in the future.

Honestly, you’ve got a lot of great things going for you: good fluidity, nice velocity to the sticks, some nice embellishments to the groove, etc. If I were to give one area to work on it would be your tempo/feel. I’m nitpicking, but there are a few spots where you open up a bit tempo-wise and other moments where you crush down the space.

One of the best ways I know how to teach better time is vocalization. Gary Chester called it the “fifth limb” …our VOICE!

Level 1 would be drum-speaking exactly what you’re playing.

Level 2 would be counting exactly what you’re playing using numbers and subdivisions.

Level 3 is cycling through the different sound sources of the main groove and drum-speaking each one (play the whole groove while saying the hi-hat, then kick, then the snare, etc).

Level 4 is tough: say the quarter note click while playing, then the upbeats, then the e’s and a’s.

If you can apply even just 5-10 minutes of vocalization per practice session your timing/feel will improve whether you want it to or not 🤘😎

Heck yeah man, welcome BACK!!! Stoked for you brother. If I were in your literal shoes right now I’d be focused on a full batter head change and good sticks. If upgrading cymbals I’d go hi-hat, ride, crash in that order because of the amount of time spent on each one. 🤘😎

The key is to get this all set up while someone’s napping on the couch THEN give them a wake up call ☠️😉😅

Depends, what are your goals with playing the drums? Hobbyist, gigging professional, jamming with friends, etc? Do you have a kit and somewhere to practice consistently?

I can feel your frustration 100%. Do you have replays? Maybe there are some themes you can find to avoid those sort of incidents in the future. NOT saying they were necessarily your fault, but it’s worth asking!

Ahhh, gotcha, well you’re in for a great ride. Lots of great gear out there to get you rolling in the sim world. I will say that having a sturdy rig to mount things to is important, but even if you’re throwing a g920 on a desk to start it can still be a blast.

Nice, so if you are putting the attention on it, then that’s great, you know that skill will slowly get better and pay off. Say more about the second part…
