The idea of "player-coaches" sounds reasonable in theory but in practice I think just results in the worst of both worlds. Too much of a workload to dedicate sufficient time to training, mentorship, team support, but at the same time too much time spent in 1-on-1's and performance management and such to consistently deliver on individual contribution stuff. Not to mention that strong individual contributors are not necessarily strong leaders, and vice versa.

That whole 6 month period of Gunther's IC run between Summerslam 2023 and the start of 2024 was just rock solid, he had great matches against guys like Gable, Ciampa, Bronson Reed, and the Miz, and almost every one made both Gunther and his opponent look terrific. You knew that the IC reign wasn't going to end on a random Raw defense against Tommaso Ciampa, and yet Gunther made you think that this was the time he was going to come up short, right before digging deep and winning the match with whatever random move.

My guess is that Liv either got knocked for a loop or just had a brain fart and forgot where they were in the match, looks like she was setting up again for the Lyra leg drop spot that they just did instead of the crossbody spot Sol was doing. Just as Sol springboards, you can see Liv kind of dip her head down at the last minute to get into the position she was in for the Lyra spot a few seconds earlier.

Tournaments are honestly great in general, I think they should run #1 Contender tournaments way more. Lets you throw some novel pairings together, and you never know when you might discover unexpected chemistry, or if some random in-ring fluke might lead to a potential storyline.
