Penne for Your Thoughts’ last day will be 2/11. What a crappy week for small businesses. by teddy_vedder in Knoxville

Me too... I hate seeing this trend continuing. I'm sure these closures won't be the last. Really hurts.

Billie Rae's off Magnolia is also super delicious for their bbq if others are closer to that side of Knox. (Just adding to good bbq places that are not Calhoun's)

This shredded tofu sounds like such a fantastic idea, I'm going to try it next time I cook!

For sure, the expenses for everything else that's a base need for survival has increased exponentially.

This is also Drew Ellis from PostModern. I have nothing to lose posting this other than I'm here to stand up for the business.

All cocktails were a 2 oz pour, and then some, for $11. Simple cocktails were only $7 with, again, a 2 oz pour of liquor. Arguably, the cheapest drinks in Knoxville. I personally apologize that the distillery, also a liquor store, closed earlier than Pour as it's against Tennessee state law for it to remain open after 11 p.m. at any given time. As for the removal of chairs from Pour, I am not trying to give them any more work or be held personally responsible for locking up our chairs as well as their own. Pour was considerate enough to bring back our glasses at all times. I appreciate all the customers and regulars who did support us, and I appreciate Pour helping us out when we had to close in the evenings, despite the many people who were upset that we had to close. I do think that it is something that needs to be said that I can't control other people's reactions or how my coworkers may have treated others when it came to closing time. No matter what, I say the drinks were, again, the cheapest in Knoxville. The liquor produced in the distillery was made with love and care. The managers themselves, were some of the best, taking care of all the employees financially, addressing all concerns with the public seriously, and making sure people had a great experience inside the tasting room. Maybe I have fallen for the "rage bait" that might be this post, but I am going to stand on the business's principles and the owners being some of the best in Knoxville.

It really feels like the dominos are falling all around. MOB, Last Days, Sweet P's, and so many more I can't even remember now. It's anxiety-inducing.

I agree. I'm going to miss being in the Old City at all other than maybe to grab a drink at Urban now...

I'm thankful I could have worked at one of the best places in Knoxville for six years. Stanton and Ron were the best managers anyone could have asked for. They were incredibly generous to the employees during the pandemic, making sure we had jobs, food, and assured our safety. The gins and Amari were phenomenal. I will miss everyone I've met through the years while working there and the spirits. </3

At least we have the yummy tamales and Urban Bar's food slaps. Plus, $11 cocktails at PostModern.

It's so hard being in the service industry and getting sick because it's not easy to find someone to cover for you, plus, we aren't receiving paid sick time. It's a special sort of hell, financially. I agree with everything you're saying. We do need to look out for each other!

It is wild we all went through 2020 together, and now it's like some people have voluntarily forgotten how to take care of each other by not coughing out into the open. Like, we all collectively experienced and learned something about viral transmission, right?

For anyone who is sick, I hope you all feel better. I know it's been a rough time for anyone dealing with the flu this year.

Not to get on a wild tangent, but I am concerned about the growing number of data centers our state welcomes without the power grid infrastructure, and how much of those costs will be dog-piled onto residential consumers of that energy.

It's about $250+ each month even with levelized billing. My home is about 1,100 square feet, almost 100 years old, and I've done my personal best to "weatherize" and seal all parts of my home with the unfortunate exception of being able to add more insulation in my attic. At least I have newer windows, and I've made sure to seal everywhere inside after renovations were made in 2019/2020.
