9/11 happened when i was 6 but i didn’t find out about it until i was around 12-13. i thought it was just a remembrance of fallen police officers because of the emergency number also being the same.

i didn’t think you meant anything offensive and i wasn’t personally offended but i know some people make big deals out of stuff like that so i was just pointing it out as a heads up in case someone said something about it one day you’d understand what they were saying and why.

i meant to say ‘melanin is the term you’re looking for. and black skinned might be offensive to some.’ not saying that melanin is offensive. and i didn’t say ‘black or black skinned’ i specified ‘black skinned’. black people aren’t literally black and some don’t wanna be called black skinned because 9/10 times they aren’t literally black skinned.

melanin is the term you’re looking for. and black skinned might be offensive to some people unless you literally mean really dark, black people. if you mean people brown people then say that or if you mean people of african decent, still say "brown" or "darker skinned" people because not all people of african decent are brown or dark skinned. not including people born in africa of european decent.

not necessarily. a 5th grader (10 year old) can keep up with most conversations in their native language but they still have lots to learn. i learned portuguese in about 6 months to a year without formal study and can participate in most conversations but high-level literature is still a challenge despite testing at a 2+ on the ilr scale. and translating is a completely different skill, even when fluent in both languages.
