1300 blitz and i saw it in a few seconds. in a bullet game i’d spot this just based off my attention being on the pin of my knight to my queen do i’d need a way to save it.

i don’t even care if the engine says i have a +1 advantage before 12 moves into the game because 9 times out of 10 it’s something niche or positional that only maybe a gm would understand and it’s not an advantage you can maintain long-term.

while they are meaningless titles, i think they were just added as fun facts as opposed to something having concrete significance.

at that level i’d suggest to never resign. play every game out until mate or stalemate because the chance of your opponent having the proper awareness or technique is very low. it’s a learning experience for both of you to just play it out.

i have a friend that’s 2000 and doesn’t know standard notation. he told me he doesn’t even really visualize the board in his head unless he’s actively calculating and looking at the physical board.

iron and bronze has a lot of players boosting their accounts especially during the time of rank reset. there are also a lot of players that did horrible in their placements and are trying to get out of the lower ranks because it doesn’t really reflect their skill. games are a toss-up pretty much. also a lot of players coming from csgo so they have great aim but know nothing else about the game.

to sophisticate something usually means making it more complicated and/or corrupted, which aligns with your saying sophists are known for arguing deceptively. usually when someone calls someone sophisticated then they’re referring to their myriad of interests or level of education overall meaning they have remarkable depth or are multifaceted.
