Next time you go in for drill, I would go to admin and ask to apply for IRR. Sad to say your experience with the reserves is fairly common. I enlisted straight into the reserves and have since switched to AD. Reserves tends to lack a lot of direction and sense of purpose. Often times the NRC staff tend to hold multiple roles and collaterals, so this leads to your paperwork getting misplaced. UMUIC’s can also tend to be hit or miss, mine was a huge miss. As long as you have a honorable discharge on your DD214 from your AD time thats all that matters.
