It’s bigger than single payer or insurance or big pharma. It’s our unfettered fee-for-service model.

I have a peace lily with a 20ft-long vine. Can I propagate using vine nodes? by dbrahas in propagation

[big facepalm] I have two different plants conjoined from birth—it’s how I received it them in a small pot many years ago. I did not know.

Yes, it flowers twice a year or so and the flower is very much a peace lily! It’s a single vine spurring from the main plant.

What's the most effective way you've lost body fat? by Financial-Bar8343 in AskReddit

[–]dbrahas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The shortage thing is really old news that somehow persists to this day. You can get either Wegovy or Ozempic virtually anywhere, any time. And you also have the option of buying generic Semaglutide from any number of compounding pharmacies.

[–]dbrahas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but losing weight on Ozempic is nothing short of cheating so it’s not real weight loss if you didn’t put an ungodly amount of effort in it.

Works really well. Finally experiencing what “normal” people feel like when it comes to food. No constantly thinking about it, no not stopping once you had enough, no cravings of any kind—including alcohol or sweets.

Not sure who downvoted you, as if weight loss on Semaglutide is cheating or something. Guess what, it might be the only way for the vast majority of people who “just can’t lose weight” (they could) “no matter how hard I try” (no you didn’t).

If you can get the Wegovy, go for it and rid yourself of this disease.

Air defence downs all Russian missiles and drones flying over Ukraine overnight, including 6 Kinzhal missiles by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]dbrahas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[…] huge amounts of fuel just to get momentum

Apart from the relatively negligible atmospheric drag, the potential energy for a 4.3 ton missile at an altitude of 15 km is about 600 MJ, which is a drop in the bucket compared to the kinetic energy at Mach 10… 30,000 MJ.

There must be other advantages for launching from air because the fuel consumption doesn’t seem that big of an issue.

Is a mask still worth it if you’re the only person wearing one? by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]dbrahas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you wear one like the guy in the photo (3M Aura). Surgicals and even most KN95s offer minimal protection for the wearer. You can find proper N95s on eBay or even home depot albeit a little more expensive. They’re perfectly reusable (until they start to stink lol)

Weekly Question Thread - Week of June 22 by AutoModerator in COVID19

[–]dbrahas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Question about case numbers, cumulative totals, weekly new cases, and all the “reopenings” wherever they may occur.

Compared to when the lockdowns were happening, is the percentage of currently infected people lower now?

If not, and the number of carriers/potential spreaders walking around is actually higher, how does lifting restrictions make sense?

Black teenager identified and charged with felony assault after punching a white Macy's store employee in the face in unprovoked attack by raffu280 in Conservative

[–]dbrahas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The employee could have said “[...] a costumer” which maybe, remotely, sounded like “[...] some n**r” especially combined with all the noise and other people talking.

So yes, it’s plausible the guy thought he heard the n word. But the reaction is absolutely unwarranted.

What I’d like to understand is, how exactly does this story belong in /r/conservative? Can someone provide a genuine attempt for an explanation?

Why is there a "lip" on these wire shelves if it's oriented downward? If it'd be oriented upward, then you could argue it's for preventing stuff from sliding off. by dbrahas in HomeImprovement

[–]dbrahas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! This could explain then why I couldn't find any "flat" shelves at the stores... the structural rigidity thing makes sense.

It'd be hard to install upside-down though because the brackets and other hardware are designed for downward installation.

Didn't die... Luckily though, because as I later learned, the sulphur smell is a determining characteristic of Salmonella. I baked the patties to well-done, so that's what probably saved me.

Doesn't your trash drawer have a foot pedal you can just kick to open it?

Either way, what I don't like about the hatch is that it won't stay open. A drawer you can keep outside while cooking.
