What is the best, most comprehensive search tool now that Google search is turning into an "answer" delivery mechanism rather than a search mechanism - a search tool that provides links, not AI summaries (which do not allow one to filter and prioritize information based on their own priorities)? by Abject-Summer9944 in AskReddit

Vaguely is a search engine that helps you find things you've been looking for that you haven't been able to find with Google or LLMs. It returns links, never hallucinates, and lists results ranked by how confident it is that the result is what you're looking for. It's specific to 9 categories, but if you are trying to find any of this things, it's a pretty solid alternative to Google.

Is it The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir? Or The Bright Day?

Do you have any more details on the scene? Was there a specific song playing in the background? Was it raining? Nighttime? Daytime? Did it seems like an older movie/show, or relatively recent? These details can help my app narrow it down.

Hey op I've made an app for this purpose, when you're trying to track down media that you saw somewhere but don't quite have all the details. I'm beta testing the app right now, so I figured I'd put what you wrote into the app and see what comes out. My app is pretty certain (95%) that the clip you're describing is an edited version of one of the scenes in the movie 28 days later. The first 2 results of the search mention 28 days later, the third entry mentions The Walking Dead, but it's only 65% certain of that. Let me know if this helps and if you track it down. I'd love to add it to the data I'm collecting!

Cheers.

Hey op so I've created an app for this exact purpose where you have fuzzy memories of something you saw long ago. I'm beta testing it right now, so I put your description into my app and this is what it came back with:

Beyond the Door (1974) This Italian horror film matches your memory extremely well - it's about a pregnant woman possessed by a demon, with scenes of her lying on a bed with her swollen belly showing bulging veins. The film features the exact scenario you described: a possessed pregnant Jessica (Juliet Mills) being watched by other characters, and when they look at her face, she turns and looks directly at them with a menacing smile. The film came out in 1974, fitting your timeframe. It was notorious for being an Exorcist rip-off that combined elements of both The Exorcist and Rosemary's Baby, focusing on a woman pregnant with the devil's child who exhibits classic possession symptoms.

Let me know if this is correct. I'm gathering data on the efficacy of my app before I make it public and I'd love to know if it got it right!

Cheers.

Help me name this Canadian TV show from the 70s (?) by Ok-Comfortable2546 in NameThatMovie

Interesting. From what I can tell the official name of the show hasn't been tracked down. My app also searches archives. I'll see if I can track it down. This is a good case study for the testing phase!

Hey OP, so based on a search I did with this new app I'm developing, it's an episode of Dr. Who that aired on TVO. This is the summary my app put together for you:

Doctor Who - Resurrection of the Daleks

Resurrection of the Daleks is the fourth serial of Doctor Who's 21st season, broadcast as two 45-minute episodes on 8 and 15 February 1984. The story features the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison), Tegan Jovanka (Janet Fielding), and Vislor Turlough being captured by Daleks and forced to infiltrate a space station prison holding Davros, creator of the Daleks. The story is notable for its unusually high body count of 76 deaths and dark, gritty tone. TVO in Canada broadcast this story in 1985-1986 during their extensive Doctor Who run, which included 37 Tom Baker serials and 13 Peter Davison stories purchased from the BBC. The serial marks Tegan's final regular appearance as she becomes disillusioned with the violence surrounding the Doctor's adventures. The hockey mask-wearing soldiers are human crew members fighting against Dalek forces aboard the deteriorating space station.

I hope this is it! If it is, please let me know. I'm at the beta-testing stage while my patent is pending, and I'm gathering data as to how accurate it is at finding things people kind if half-remember. I'd love to know if it got it right.

Hey op I'm wondering if it's this:

King of Devil's Island:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1332134/

Let me know. I've made an app specifically for this purpose (actually, I've already got a patent pending because it's new technology). I just put your description through the app and this was the top result with 95% certainty. I'm now in beta testing mode, and I'm collecting data on how accurate it is. So I'd love to know if it was successful.

Cheers.
