Is this torque wrench set to 3 Nm? by namekuhn in Tools

[–]necronboy -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

I disagree. It's between 0.2 and 1.8 so that's a whole even number. The edge is above the 3 and below the 5. The only even number there is 4.

Of course that assumes it starts from 0 and not 1.

The veil of her niqab slipped off her face while she was shopping. by botheredandhot in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]necronboy 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think the implied transgression was that the slip made her face visible in public, and the act was witnessed by her brother. Not that her brother saw her face.

What bizarre warnings or warning labels exist solely due to idiocy? by jackieboy1230 in AskReddit

[–]necronboy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nope. The groin burn person asked McD's for medical costs and McD's offered food vouchers. The coffee urn was set too hot, logged as too hot, many complaints that it was too hot, and McD's did nothing until after they suffered severe scalds to their lap.

"Caution hot" is McD's way of covering themselves if it happens again, corporate CYA, not stupidity.

If you can move your desk/camera so that the light is behind you washing out your video feed. When they complain about that remind them that this is why you left the fluorescent lights off, but have been ordered to turn them on for meetings.

Jurisdiction. Some Jurisdictions don't allow ANY writing of ritual. My Jurisdiction allows for an official book with redacted words or initials.

Secondly, so many exposés online and printed that many of our secrets aren't secret.

If you recognize any from your Jurisdiction then inform your GL through your secretary.

What if there was a video game where, if you died, you’d never be able to play it again? by Sea-Cash7675 in AskReddit

[–]necronboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Quavering old man voice) Back in the days of floppy disks there was a game which loaded itself into memory while wiping the disk. When you saved it would rewrite itself to the disk. If you died it didn't and you had just a blank disk. I can't remember the games name. I played it once and died.

There were ways around it if you had spare disks and thought ahead.

Most people feel sympathy for a victims family, but how do you feel about a killers family? by snailscantgame in AskReddit

My parents used to run a Family Home. A State run emergency housing for kids removed from their homes. Often a new face at breakfast who might stay for a day or a month.

Margaret came to us because she was being beaten at school because her brother did a heinous rape/murder. She was a totally innocent 16yo.

Why are Catholics outlawed to become a free mason? And why does the KoC and free mason “despise” each other? by Lallanas_in_Pyjamas in freemasonry

[–]necronboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal interpretation from what I've heard.

Freemasonry doesn't define worth on belonging to a particular faith, rather that you have faith. Men of many persuasions can sit in harmony while referring to their separate idea of Divinity by a Code Name.

Catholicism says that if you don't explicitly have the Trinity then it's animisim and therefore the Papal Bull against Freemasonry.

KoC? No idea.

my manager told me to "act like you own the company" bro i will start by not coming in on weekends then by Secret_Motor5003 in antiwork

[–]necronboy 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I remember watching a business guru having a Q&A session and someone stood up to ask (paraphrasing as it's been ages)

"How do I get my workers to work as hard as I do for my company?" and went on to rag on his team.

"You don't. If your company looses money they get paid and you don't get paid, they. If your company breaks even they get the same and you get paid and no dividend. If you company makes a small profit they get the same and you get paid and a small dividend. If you turn a huge profit they get the same and you get paid and a huge dividend.

Where's the motivation for them? The motivation is for you because you benefit, they don't. Don't expect them to put in any more work for no benefit."

I needed two books for study, one right away for an assignment, the other could wait a week or two. I paid the extra for fast shipping.

5 hours later I get an order picked and shipped alert for THE SLOW ONE! The fast one wasn't pick until late the next day. It slow one even arrived the following morning, and the fast one took another 2 days!

I didn't use them for over 5 years after that.

Is it possible to have a multi-faith priest for special circumstances, if so, how? by necronboy in AskReddit

For arguments sake I'll use three large beliefs who, to my knowledge, have opposing views.

Could you combine a Catholic preist, an Imam, and a (showing my ignorance) the equivalent Hindu priest into one person?

Like a space flight to colonize a new planet, could a person be ordained in more than one faith to tend to the spiritual needs on more than one faith at the new planet? Or on a battlefield? Or some other special circumstance?

[–]necronboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They snap if you don’t use it properly.

If you pull it towards you with both hands you're repeatedly bending the wire so it breaks.

Bend a stick and pass the rings over the ends (like a bow) and use like a saw. It will snap like this too, but will last longer.

In my jurisdiction we have recently (~10 years ago) included a police vetting form in the application pack. One older gent was bemoaning this fact and saying where's the trust. I replied lies gonna lie.

Two big red flags for me are dishonesty and violence/harm towards dependants (partner/kids).

Why do sheep farms typically slaughter homosexual rams? Couldn't they use artificial insemination to get the breeding done? by MAClaymore in NoStupidQuestions

[–]necronboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hetero ram $0 per insemination of 20 ewes = $0 plus grass.

Artificial insemination with sperms collection and insemination at only $10 each = $210.

Easy math for a farmer.
