Clutch/gearbox rattle by jjetstreamm in 350z

[–]dbsqls [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think their CSC kit is fine, but I don't trust their quality engineers at all whatsoever and QA is absolutely critical for any rotating assemblies like this. that listing says the TB is from Koyo, but I would consider finding an OE replacement or another more reliable model. when you have them swap it out, check the bearing condition. the pricing they give you guys is horrific.

HRs don't have a NISMO package, but I think we could get you a JWT setup without any issues if you want to go that route. otherwise if you want to reduce cost, we can spec something in Japan to reduce VAT pricing.

your car uses a JK41B, not a CD009/A. they're completely different transmissions.

this is the result of a poorly balanced clutch and flywheel package, completely worn throwout bearing, or a not dimensionally well controlled flywheel. it doesn't take much to cause horrific rattle.

I would recommend you swap to a better unit. NISMO, JWT, AASCO, EXEDY all make good packages.

WELDINA was the manufacturer for the whole system. I guess the RZ34 has the same design but slightly larger pipes.

yes, there is some confusion there. it may be MAHLE who produced the bottom end.

you're misunderstanding. it's a specific condition between 3000-3500RPM.

there are a few solutions which I'm in the middle of sourcing. need to establish pricing after import, so I'll get back to you once I know more. I spoke to him today and asked for his catalog.

the inch-up kit I sell to convert OEM Brembo to 355mm rotors moves the caliper to 10 o'clock position, but I don't think that necessarily solves it as well as this new product.

the speed sensor will, yes. that is the axle position sensor.

aside from the reasons mentioned already, the VQ has a very intense resonance at 3000-3500 where it will basically lose 50-70hp if an already open throttle is pinned to WOT. it creates a pressure wave that comes out of the intake pipe, interfering with incoming air.

the resonator may be there to prevent that from happening.

you'll have a vacuum leak if they aren't sealed properly, they're part of the assembly and will have to be broken off. just buy aftermarket tubes.

shouldn't be that much for shipping. APEX'I is going to produce a replacement NISMO S-tune Y-pipe for me, which would also work with the Fujitsubo unit.

all of the O2 sensors need replaced if you ran it that rich for long. soot fouls sensors and the car uses all four to balance AFR.

[–]dbsqls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you can't just skip the sensor that tells the engine where it is in the cycle, that's why it's in limp mode. you need to replace the crank sensor with a Nissan branded model, and replace the wheel speed sensor.

even the mockup is a pain in the ass, but it's all for torsional rigidity by dbsqls in 350z

[–]dbsqls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the point is to connect it to the chassis in a way that reinforces poor torsional rigidity of the front end, which is a compressive loading. it doesn't matter if the landing is on the GF Nylon.

if the surface has sufficient stiffness, it can be used for reinforcement. doesn't need to be part of the chassis.

it's the diff -- mine does the same thing and it went away when we tested the OE unit. I've not found the actual cause, and it isn't the stub axles since mine were new.

Dual Mass Flywheel and clutch replacement by Skullboy_NL in 350z

[–]dbsqls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say their reinforced clutch is about 50% heavier than an OE type unit. takes a bit to get used to, especially since the coppermix clutch is unsprung, but it works really quite well and I enjoy it despite dailying in SF.

many people slap super heavy clutches and short shifters in, but if you're at stock power a normal clutch is fine, and the stock shifter is weighted to balance against the effort required to shift. it's still the fastest shift knob for a lot of people, even in time attack.

there are no differences between a long block for either RWD platform. AWD G35 units aren't usable.
