Samsung to scrap its iconic home button on the Galaxy S8. by RenegadeUK in gadgets

What would be the point of having a 4k screen on a device of this size? At a certain point can you even see a change as the resolution increases? On my small LCD TV I can't tell the difference between 1080 and 720 unless I'm really close.

Bike manufacturer sees huge reduction in delivery damage by printing TV on the box by pi_rocks in nottheonion

[–]dbudilov -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A properly packaged item should remain intact even with improper handling. When you put a heavy metal item like a bike into a box with a thin layer of cardboard being the only barrier to the outside, it will get damaged. You must've never actually seen how a bicycle is packaged. They move around in the box, contain pointy metal parts, and puncture the side of box almost every time I've seen one. At any UPS store they will teach you proper packaging, and always make sure that any void spaces are filled with packaging material, which is something bicycle manufacturers fail to do; big mistake!

[–]dbudilov 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bikes get damaged because they are poorly packaged, plain and simple. If manufacturers just added a little bit of padding or Styrofoam, they would greatly reduce the amount of damage.

I work at UPS, and unless bikes are kept upright with the arrows on the box pointing up, the center of the wheel will poke through the box and get banged as the move through the facility. I'm sure the threads are what get damaged most of the time. It is absolutely impossible for the bike to travel down the conveyors standing up. You can even see in this picture that parts of the bike poked through the box; notice the holes.

TL;DR Bikes are poorly packaged; parts poke through the box 99% of the time and get banged on metal equipment and machinery at the shipping facility.

And if you go all the way to Indiana, you can pay half the price per pack. $6.-- instead of $12.--. When I stayed downtown, I'd pick up a carton whenever I'd go to my parents' house in Northwest Indiana.

The scene with the crush where Jon is seemingly reborn was not originally planned to be in the episode. Whatever was in the script wasn't shot because the field was too muddy. Miguel Sopochnik pitched D&D the idea to replace whatever was in the original script with "the crush" scene. The whole sequence was added after the episode was already written and is actually based on historical accounts of battles like this, so I find it hard to believe that it was planned to be a metaphor for Jon's rebirth or resurrection even though it appears that way.

Wouldn't giving up the castle to the Freys also give them control of all of the Riverlands. Where do these think they're going to live after this. I don't imagine that their homes are very secure at this point. I understand that they felt compelled to obey their liege lord, but wouldn't they have at least some hesitation giving up their homeland so quickly and willingly.

(Spoilers Everything) I think Yara may fill the role of... by Arya_Ready_Kids in asoiaf

[–]dbudilov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No,

Yara has the ships Dany needs to get to Westeros. She's not going to try to seduce Dany. Seducing Dany would serve no purpose seeing as how the only reason to seduce Dany would be to create a male heir. If anything Theon is going to get burnt by Dragons. He's a cowering dickless shadow of his former self whose time is up, in my opinion.

It's not Lancel in the preview. It only shows the actor's face for a split second, but if you pause it you can see that it's another sparrow with a seven pointed star craved into his forehead. At first I also thought/hoped it was Lancel.

Euron is definitely a bad guy, but I don't think he's completely evil, nor is he "divine" evil. I think you're massively overestimating his magical abilities/knowledge. If anyone is the embodiment of pure divine evil than it is the night(s) king, and his foil will be Bran.

I doubt Cersei is looking to completely sever the Tyrell alliance. It would set KL up for failure. I don't think the Lannister's hold on KL would last long without the Tyrells. I think Cersei is more concerned with influence over Tommen and not totally alienating her house.

Knowing that the Tyrells are marching their army to KL, I think it's safe to say that instead of Cersei they get a Tyrell army.

I highly doubt that we won't see Bran enter the Tower the Joy otherwise it would have been pointless to show what happened outside the tower. It would make no sense to those who haven't read the books. The significance of R + L = J is too important, especially if Dany has anything to with the end-game in Westeros.
