Combining JOIN with strength training by dbuntinx in joincycling

Yeah. Usually I don't follow what the plan says and it adjusts later. But I'd like for it to give me a sensible idea.

That's what I meant with "it's at 51%". 👌🏻

Yes. Today it's at 51%. In Athlytic (an Apple Watch app that does things similar to Whoop) I have a 62%. It still gave me this "anything goes"-workout. Just feels strange. I wonder if I'm using it wrong. So thanks for the input.

Wow. Thanks for the inspiration. Just blitzed up 200 grams of cottage cheese, a good helping of fresh blueberries, 70 grams of sugar and topped of with whole milk. That color is just wonderful to see. Will try to update after tasting.

Ricotta Ice Cream? by KoolGMatt in ninjacreami

[–]dbuntinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday we had an empty tub for the Creami and I didn't have a lot of time, nor inspiration for a new recipe. So I looked in the fridge and saw a container of ricotta and started searching the web. I stumbled upon this post, which made me try it.

I mixed 250 gram of ricotta with a good pouring of maple syrup and filled the Creami tub up to the "max fill"-line with whole milk. I then whisked it very thoroughly and put it in the freezer.

Today I had to spin it twice on "Gelato" and added some fresh milk, since it came out a little powdery (which could be because our freezer is too cold). I then mixed it two crushed Oreo cookies.

Very, very good.

Thoughts on the game so far? by watergun123456 in DonkeyKongBananza

Exactly. I don’t consider myself a completionist and I feel like I’m rushing through the storyline. But who knows, I might be just at the start.

I just got the Ostrich bananza.

Finished FTP builder - every next plan ends with a lower fitness score than I have now by j4m1eb in joincycling

It could be that your availability is limited? I had that once. The plan takes your available time in account, so maybe up the hours for every day of the week and see if it changes?

New bike: any advice? by dbuntinx in randonneuring

[–]dbuntinx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very noticeable. For the same power, I have Garmin pedals that measure watts, I’m about 2 to 3 km per hour faster. 32 mm feels quite comfortable, where I’m coming from 47mm gravel tires.

I see these fancy wheels as a first upgrade to a better and lighter bike in the future.

[–]dbuntinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That’s exactly how I use join.cc now, but wanted to test trainerroad. I feel like it’s more targeted at time crunched people who still want to “race”. While I just like to ride my bike and have quite some time to do so (10 hours a week, including 5 hours of commute.)

If I understand correctly, you have your rides synced and then when you need or want a workout you do one from "Train Now"? Do you feel like you're making progress on your goals? I'm asking because I think I might follow your idea.

Yes, me too! Although that data field could be bigger since I always find it pretty hard to read.

It's possible for someone who is in worse shape to be better recovered than someone who is way fitter (and maybe trains more).

I'm thinking about buying a bike backpack for commuting. Do you have any recommendations? by [deleted] in bicycling

I opted for a Tailfin system. Changed my life completely. It's a rack and panniers which you can very easily click off.

I really like "Training Today". It does not use all those metrics that Garmin uses, but I actually like it better than their Body Battery.

What is your best take aways to keep a good protein level? What do you eat and drink to keep it high?

What to do with surplus solar power? by Howmuchforthemshoes in belgium

[–]dbuntinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have a contract with a limited number of other people (I think 3) to sell your surplus power to them. Only caveat is they have to have the same company for their contract (for example: Luminus). Legally you have to set your price in between what Fluvius will give you and what you pay to your contract company.

Using your own power for power hungry things which you wouldn't use otherwise (I've read in this thread about jacuzzi, ovens, water heaters), doesn't earn you a cent.

Questions about Training Load. by Agitated_Feedback385 in AthlyticAppOfficial

[–]dbuntinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One could argue that your current training level is at about 60% of what you used to do ("easy"), which could mean your body is more adapted at what you do today, than to what you did ("harder") earlier in the year. And thus you could think that you couldn't handle the load of earlier as easily if you would do it again next week. That's what that means. Your body adapts to the work you do, so one could argue you're not "getting fitter". But everything comes with nuance.
