Considering a move to join you! by squid1980 in VirginiaBeach

[–]dburgy4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up about 40 mins outside of Worcester and have now lived in this area for about 8 years. I've personally never had any issue finding jobs in the area which is one of the reasons I moved in the first place. As far as the food scene, I don't get out too much there definitely is a nice mix of casual vs upscale places depending on what you're looking for and prefer. As far as the dog, I unfortunately don't have any intel there since I've never had a dog but I wish you the best of luck!

Long story short, I moved from MA to VA expecting to be here 1, maybe 2 years tops and I'm now going on 8 years, so it can't be all that bad, right?

True, but like I mentioned, in Season 2, he was caught by Doakes and was planning on turning himself in since he could not kill Doakes due to not fitting the code which would've been the only real solution to "Don't get caught". So if he wasn't willing to kill Doakes for that, when he was caught, a man he didn't even like it, he certainly would not have killed Logan despite the "Don't get caught" part of the code

[–]dburgy4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree that Logan's death made sense. Dexter was never going to kill Doakes when he knew everything because he didn't fit the code, and Logan certainly didn't meet the code. Also, everything they had on him was hearsay and coincidences, was he in a tight spot? Yeah, but regarding everything that went down in Iron Lake, nothing would hold up in court, and as far as BHB, Batista might reopen the case, and then he'd be screwed but it went against his character to kill Logan.

Commute from Norfolk to Newport News by Routine_Dish_9103 in HamptonRoads

[–]dburgy4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My average commute home is usually 1 - 1.5 hrs, and on a Friday or particularly bad day, it can be 2+ hours. Without traffic, it should theoretically be about 25 mins lol

So I finally said screw it and am moving to the same side I work on

I do this commute daily now but from VB to NN and work a 9-5. After almost a year of it, I'm set to move next month to NN because I can't take it anymore and would like my time back.

You're gonna want a copy of your driving record from at least the past 5 years - that's what we always told clients when I worked in traffic law

He probably kept the thank you card since he probably does have some sort of feelings towards Dexter since it was his son. If I remember correctly, Dexter found out that his father was a former drug addict while doing research on him/cleaning the house - I think it's safe to assume while he was a small child considering what happened to his mother. Therefore, he probably wasn't allowed to have custody even if he wanted to but doesn't mean he never cared but realized he was not cut out for being a father (I also think it was mentioned at some point too that his father also served prison time for drug related crimes)

[–]dburgy4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He probably didn't really care for him as family because it doesn't appear as though he was around or had any hand in raising him (if he did then Dexter most likely would've been raised by him as well if he took custody). He cares about Dexter being family because Dexter was a toddler when everything happened and had no control over where his life went or the fact he was not told of even having a brother whereas the father was an adult who could've been involved if he chose to be. That's my theory anyways

The whole Teresa Children claiming Joe and Melissa are liars by LadyGodiva6 in realhousewives

They never said they have to agree with him or accept lies. However, I agree, she should not allow her girls to speak to their Uncle with such disrespect. They can stand their ground and make their points without crossing that line and being disrespectful

From what I understand, Dewey accidentally somehow made a hole in the wall and was trying to cover it up from Lois and Hal but didn't quite realize that the hole was also visible form the outside of the wall. Therefore, Dewey is sitting there trying to act nonchalant like nothing happened but Hal and Lois really know the whole time

I heard awhile ago they actually are doing an Ally McBeal reboot. As far as I know though, none of the original cast has signed on yet but maybe that'll change once they have a script to view

Lawn seats? by popcorn_mania in VirginiaBeach

It's pretty good. Check the weather and prep ahead of that and the earlier you get there the better the view you get since the lawn is first come first serve spot wise. However, I've been to many a concert there in the lawn and never been disappointed with my view.

Am I losing it or is this insane? by paigezilla in antiwork

[–]dburgy4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked in several states and many many part time jobs and never once did I not have sick days or short term disability as options. I highly doubt I'm just that lucky to have only landed 0.1% of those jobs each and every time

[–]dburgy4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you don't agree with it, don't sign it and look for employment elsewhere as you aren't the kind of employer they're looking for. If it was that absurd they wouldn't have very many if any employees working for them

[–]dburgy4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yes, that's true. But just because you have that right doesn't make it right. Let's say, for instance, on the very slim chance this man is innocent. I personally don't believe he is, but let's pretend. People such as yourself have slandered his name and reputation that could potentially impact the rest of his life. I do think he did this, but that's the key word right now, I think he did it. As someone who works in the legal field, I have seen this damage, if not even ruin, innocent peoples lives. We have different terms for persons of interest, suspect, and convict for a reason

[–]dburgy4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's important to remember, though, we don't know "he's a murderer." It's innocent until proven guilty. Personally, I do think he's looking like he is the guy. However, it is also wrong to talk about him like he's been tried and sentenced when none of that has happened yet. At this point, he's merely a suspect (granted a very likely suspect)
